A vague general question. If you have an English posted frame 30 hour with two bells and a multi slotted countwheel is that always Dutch strike or is there something else that can be done with one countwheel and two bells?

What would suggest quarters for instance? Can you do that with one countwheel?

One of the bells might be for an alarm. Is there one? Can we see a picture?

If the count wheel has 2 of the same hours next to each other, i.e. 12 o'clock and another 12 o'clock next to each other....probably strikes the hour on one bell right before the hour. Then strikes the hour on the other bell at a couple minutes after the top of the hour. Like a Comtoise.

The Swiss used count wheels for quarter striking, but the count wheel has an unmistakable shape of multi-steps within each slot.

    For English, maybe Dutch striking.

No pics, but no alarm either. The two hammers strike on the outside and are both lifted in the conventional way by pins on the greatwheel (one set either side) I'm assuming that like my Dutch striker the hammers are selected by a cam.

I'm sorry you didn't win, I know you liked that one. But fear not and take solace in two things: You'll find something else to pique your interest. And the prices of clocks are creeping upward, which will help your clocks.

I have bills to pay, several clocks coming back this week.

I would love to have seen it in person and learned all about it, but it didn't really fit that well in the collection and it would never have been allowed to run!

I know for me, for many clocks the timing isn't right. Also, it's a good thing I don't win them all! Plain and simple.
