Hello, I just acquired three different watches that seem to be similar but are all different from each other. I believe/hope one has gold inlays and is rare. All three need repair. Any help would be appreciated. One is marked Chicago and the other two are Swiss. 21 and 17 jewel's .
As miguel angel cladera posted, your watches are of a variety we refer to as Swiss Fakes. The Encyclopedia article explains what these are.
Although these have started becoming collectable in recent years, the fact that your watches aren't in running condition seriously degrades their value. Sadly, they typically aren't worth the cost of repairs.
Unfortunately, many of the links in our Encyclopedia articles were disrupted when we changed to later versions of our Message Board and its been a long process getting them all reinstated. So, if you come across a broken link, please report it here.
Please feel free to ask about anything that isn't clear to you.
The last watch you posted in not a Swiss fake but a product of the Trenton Watch Co. of Trenton, N.J.
The marking on the movement says 17 jewels but it is actually only a 7 jewel watch with fake jewels.
Here are pictures of my marked 17 jewel Locomotive Special with the correct Locomotive Special dial.
The Trenton Watch Co. made over 100,000 of this model movement and thus would be fairly easy to find the parts to repair yours if you should decide to.
I collect any brand of American manufactured watch that has a train on the dial.
Thought you might like some correct info on yours.
