    This document is very informative as well as much more detailed than I would have anticipated on the occupational titles. Thanks for posting! Interestingly, I ran across it earlier this week. Having read some about Hamilton Watch Co's processes in the 1950s, primarily related to making jewels, I was curious about some of the terminology and stumbled across the referenced document.

    Hopefully there was some room for upward mobility in some of those jobs.

    etmb61, Because the job titles/descriptions were so specific, I wondered, too, if this might have been planned to allow for mastery of a level followed by upward progression, or perhaps even lateral moves where the knowledge would then allow for promotions. But, it may be that I was applying modern-day practices to a different era.
