Yes. Would like to figure out how to set the punch stamp correctly to sync with correct/time date. I’m assuming once you set it & keep it wound it keeps correct time/date/day for the punch?
Winding this thing is next to impossible. I’m 6’ 200lbs & pretty strong & agile & had to use pliers with a towel wrapped around the key to wind it; it was so tough.
I'm going to have to make some ratcheting tool that slips over the key to wind it. I’m curious if they are all this hard to wind? I mean, it’s next to completely impossible for me to wind fully with just the key & no leverage. Keys looks correct & original?
Looks like Merrit’s serviced it about 15 years ago. Maybe they put in even stronger springs. Nothing is binding it seems; it’s just the spring resistance. I did notice one of the Geneva stops is off in a Merrits bag as in the pic.
Since cosmetically it’s close to excellent & seems to be working well; I have no plans to take it apart for a once over at this time.
Only thing is I’m going to look for a dial face in a better condition if I can find one.
This thing is HEAVY. I mean, dunno what it weighs, but I’m guessing at least 80 lbs. I would not feel comfortable hanging this on a wall. I struggled to get this in my car; & people at the auction said they had to use a hand truck.
As an aside, auction had a Seth Thomas #2 regulator that was pretty nice that went for $240. Almost got that one, but trying to limit my purchases of clocks to ridiculously good deals
