Got this at an auction for a measly $60. Seems to be serviced, working, & complete best I can tell. Don’t know anything about these clocks but it’s extremely heavy & difficult to wind.

If anyone has a clue where to find an original instruction manual online it would much appreciated

Yes. Would like to figure out how to set the punch stamp correctly to sync with correct/time date. I’m assuming once you set it & keep it wound it keeps correct time/date/day for the punch?

Winding this thing is next to impossible. I’m 6’ 200lbs & pretty strong & agile & had to use pliers with a towel wrapped around the key to wind it; it was so tough.

I'm going to have to make some ratcheting tool that slips over the key to wind it. I’m curious if they are all this hard to wind? I mean, it’s next to completely impossible for me to wind fully with just the key & no leverage. Keys looks correct & original?

Looks like Merrit’s serviced it about 15 years ago. Maybe they put in even stronger springs. Nothing is binding it seems; it’s just the spring resistance. I did notice one of the Geneva stops is off in a Merrits bag as in the pic.

Since cosmetically it’s close to excellent & seems to be working well; I have no plans to take it apart for a once over at this time.

Only thing is I’m going to look for a dial face in a better condition if I can find one.

This thing is HEAVY. I mean, dunno what it weighs, but I’m guessing at least 80 lbs. I would not feel comfortable hanging this on a wall. I struggled to get this in my car; & people at the auction said they had to use a hand truck.

As an aside, auction had a Seth Thomas #2 regulator that was pretty nice that went for $240. Almost got that one, but trying to limit my purchases of clocks to ridiculously good deals

You have the wrong key. No one could wind this clock easily with such a key. You should have a large T-shaped key which will give you more power.

Timesavers sell what you need - look at their catalog under Time clock Cranks.

The two keys in the photo look like keys for bleeding a radiator - I don't think they belong to this clock.

Thank you so much. I just assumed they were original because they looked so industrial & beefy. Will order right keys.

Nice find for the money. I’m attaching a picture of mine along with the correct key. I would think it would be almost impossible to wind that thing without the right key. Several sellers on eBay might have one. I’d start looking there. Good luck sir.

Thanks all. I got the correct key at Merrits. I’m curious how you hung that on the wall because of the 80lb weight - I’m guessing you used a stud .

I had a 3/8 inch lag bolt and screwed it into the stud in my basement wall to hold mine. It had a hole in bottom of case so put a wood screw there to hold it from moving side ways. Mine is not as old but a great clock, came with the right winding key. Found it stuck in the stamping mech in the bottom of the clock. Even with out the stamping mech in the clock, its all i want to put on the wall. Had knee surgery back in August, so it was enough to lift. My buddy and i put this one on a hand cart and brought it up from the sellers basement. They are great clocks, i paid 225 Can for mine.
