Hey Nut,

Nice watch. It was made in about 1879 and was one of 581 15 jewel Model 1 Bunns produced between 1874 - 1879 which looked about the same. This one is from the last run of 23 small runs. There were 100 watches in this run. The run before this one had 200 but most of the other runs were just 10 watches.

Your watch has the proper dial and appears to have the right hour hand but the minute hand has been changed. The second hand should probably have a pointy end instead of what it has but that is being really picky.

I hope that helps.

Nice watch. Thanks for the pics.

Re the hands, John C. knows tons more about them thar' Illinois watches then me, but, although it's a little tough to see, the second hand might be the somewhat uncommon style that was used on some early better grade mvts that came with Fleur-de-lis style hour and minute hands. So I wonder if the second hand is original and both the hour and minute hands are replacements. Just a thought.

Greg could be right about the hands. Fleur hands are found on these watches. The more I look at the second hand the more I think it might be original. All I can say is that I really do not think the minute hand is right. I think the watch would look fine if you got another one of the tulip hands like the hour hand....hard stuff to find though.

There might be a chance that I have the hour hand for this watch. I'll take a look and report back later today.

First of all thanks for all the information that well versed gentlemen have given us (the watch loving community).I am interested in getting my timepiece as close to original as possible.
If LARFURE does find the matching hand thats appropriate for this watch please contact me.
My collection is small but I think I'm heading in the right direction.
Until next time.;)
