    Waltham Secometer Restoration

No Rob-what I got from you is that most any case that is really 12s will fit the Waltham 12s movement. :)

Correct Hands for Elgin 21-jewel Grades 72 & 91 "Convertibles"

I'm speculating here and know nothing. But weren't E. Howard hands Swiss, and I believe most of Ball's hands were, and Waltham had early examples...perhaps off-size hands were imported whenever the situation/certain models required it.

Correct Hands for Elgin 21-jewel Grades 72 & 91 "Convertibles"

Greg...maybe it means they have a bushing? :)

Rob, that list is something I will record and save. Glad you understood my garbled question. :)

    Waltham Secometer Restoration

Friends, I was given a non-running Waltham Secometer movement as partial payment for some work. I'm paying to have a COA made on her, which may have been a foolish move monetarily... Are these interesting movements similar to the Hamilton 12s/M.910 and etc. when it comes to getting a case...

Correct Hands for Elgin 21-jewel Grades 72 & 91 "Convertibles"

I agree; this set was made to fit. Ethan, they did a decent job too. It looks like the gold hue matches very well, and the hands are in great shape cosmetically. Personally, this is what I look for in a set of hands-especially one like yours that are on a scarcer model...plus, you have an even...

Correct Hands for Elgin 21-jewel Grades 72 & 91 "Convertibles"

Ethan I do not want you to misunderstand...if your second looks anything like this it is normal. What you may be talking about is the pipe.

Correct Hands for Elgin 21-jewel Grades 72 & 91 "Convertibles"

Well...sleeve or bushing my friend, they are usually gold and easy to spot. They don't look especially bad cosmetically, but then again they do look like something added. Wish I had one for you!

Ethan-here are examples of "not a sleeve"...

Correct Hands for Elgin 21-jewel Grades 72 & 91 "Convertibles"

I still believe the style was buyer's choice. That Elgin may not have offered what a customer wanted in a certain time period doesn't rule out that he didn't get it done... Hour hands are fairly easy to adjust, and Elgin 18s hour hands are close to many other makes. Minute hands are a...

    Stems and Bushing Adjusting-or Not

Jim, you got it-that bushing must be soldered. I have a couple of these stems that do not fit without crowns. The bushing is free turning, but these are solid. I also have a couple like the gold shown that are a bit too short for my case. I ruined one trying to turn the stem. Then I...

    Stems and Bushing Adjusting-or Not

Friends, I'm trying to save a silver 18s Dueber hunter case. The case is worth the effort; I've done everything but a hinge repair. But finding the right stem/crown has been a problem for a long time...however,I finally feel very close. I have attached a couple pics to help explain. The gold...

    Sunday Hunting

I have always liked silver cases myself, and the two above are both fine examples...Hey Joe-who made yours?

    Neat dial

Ha-but yes...in my opinion hairier more than most smaller pieces, Clint. I always thought of anything smaller than 12s to be made with the ladies in mind. Maybe I'm wrong? Just curious...if it was 12s or larger I'd really like to have it. I'll bet I'm not alone.

    Neat dial

Clint, I'm confused about that Waltham. Let's say it is 0S. That's a very small size for a man, certainly-yet it looks masculine.
