Huber Uhren - Captive Center Arbor

Going back to the centre arbour, I have in the past, tightened a small say MT1 drill chuck onto it, supported the other side and tap on the end of the chuck. It should separate very easily.

    Horolovar Pallet Setting Tool?

I used 1mm Aluminium sheet. I sketched up the handle using these dimensions. They seemed to work ok. When you used the tool did you slide it between the escape wheel and the plate or on the inside and view through peep holes?

to Sjaffe. Do you have a photo of that tool? I looked at snclocks but did see anything about your jig.

    Horolovar Pallet Setting Tool?

Eric, there's one more dimension that would make life easier. It looks like the big end has a radius on it. If you could lay a rule across the bottom tabs and then measure to the bottom.

    Horolovar Pallet Setting Tool?

Yes Harry, It looks like Aluminium and that's what I'll be using. I'm going to try for some 3.00 x .5 screws, which will give a handy 1/2 mm per turn.

    Horolovar Pallet Setting Tool?

Thanks for the comprehensive and detailed measurements. I have got the materials together and am ready to start the build. The closest screw I had is 6-32 which will give about .8mm per turn. I couldn't get a 3.5 x .6, but I think .8 will be ok.

    Horolovar Pallet Setting Tool?

Just to clear up the operation details: It looks like the pin is fitted to the sleeve when pushing the pallet down. The tool is placed with the anchor in the body slot and then its screwed down on the top of the pallet. To raise the pallet the bottom of the pallet is set to one side of the...

    Horolovar Pallet Setting Tool?

Does anyone have one of the pallet setting tools illustrated above? If I had the dimensions on the drawing I would be able to make one. I have a lathe and mill. I have been working on a clock and I can shift the pallets, but by the time the screws are slack enough to shift the pallets I have no...

    Drops

Figure 6 on page 44 of the 10th edition of the repair guide, the 2º inside drop is shown. Where is the exit drop? or where is it measured?

    Hauck clock

Dumb question alert! In this clock. the escape wheel rotates anti clock wise unlike the drawings in the guide. When it comes to trouble shooting say, the first line, of the table on page 47, Entrance More, Exit pallet less, does the raise lower pivot hole remain true?

    Hauck clock

Its all very well to look at a drawing in your favourite CAD program, but its another to try to put it down as a useable real size drawing. Having discovered this, I thought I'd draw the escape wheel with something that could be useful. I settled for a circular series of 20 radial lines. I cut...

    Hauck clock

I've used some plasticine to make an impression of the teeth, and then moved the wheel tooth by tooth until I see a tooth that throws all the other imprints off. This was partially successful I would like to make something a bit more rigid than plasticine. Using the measurements in the Repair...

    Hauck clock

<alt><ctrl><del> for the clock. I've taken it apart again to bring the lever upright. There are some escapement wheel teeth that look a bit dodgy. I may be able to mount the wheel by the pivots in the lathe. I'll will see if I can make some runners that small. If I machined up a teeth cutter, I...

    Hauck clock

Hi Marylander & Tinker, Thanks for your replies. I have the escapement working at the moment. I will leave it going for tonight and have another look at it tomorrow. OK about the drops. I really don't know how you would reliably measure that. I could print a 360º circle and mount it behind...

    Hauck clock

OK then, The procedure is to adjust the drops and then the locks. How do I know when the drops are correct? What is the end result that am supposed to be looking for here. The guide says to raise or lower the pivot hole to increase or decrease the drop. What is the end point of the adjustment...
