Urgos 9-Tube Runs, Hands Not Moving

Willie, I finally got a chance to check out the Urgos today. I had to bring it in. The tension washer seemed pretty tight, but it had a lot of oil around the shaft and gear, enough to offest the tension. The bushing was shot. Lots of wiggle. When I advanced the hand around it felt like...

Urgos 9-Tube Runs, Hands Not Moving

Greetings All! In all honesty I haven't had a chance see this one yet, but I'm hoping for some input to point me in the right direction. From the details I've managed to gather from the customer it's a UW03038B. He said the pendulum never stops, but that the hands just randomly stop moving...

    Cuckoo Music Box Question

Chris, even though the problem clock's box was positioned and configured slightly different than yours the pictures led me to the solution. As I suspected, my customer said he thought the wire might have gotten bent when the clock fell so he just bent it back "out of the way". The picture is a...

    Cuckoo Music Box Question

Shutt, there's a small wire about 1/2" long on the backside of that bar that stops the fan/fly... but only when the vertical wire is pushed inward toward the front of the clock.

    Cuckoo Music Box Question

Chris, Thanks for the pictures. It looks like this music box may be slightly different in your clock, but I can see how the music being activated by the bird perch/wire would eliminate the issue here. Knowing anything's possible I have to wonder if the well-meaning customer may have...

    Cuckoo Music Box Question

My thoughts exactly, Willie. I've come across such modifications before but I wanted to see what happened before I started correcting all that stuff "just in case" it worked. It didn't.

    Cuckoo Music Box Question

Greetings All! I've been patiently perturbed with this music box for the past 2 hours. The customer brought it in several pieces after it fell off the wall and he "tried a few things" to no avail. That said, I don't know what he may have 'adjusted' in the process. There was no damage to the...

    How Does It Come Off?

Well, either I'm not doing something exactly right or I'm afraid to put enough force to it since it's plastic. I'll give it another round tonight and update. Thanks to everybody for your help. -Randy

    How Does It Come Off?

I've been careful to avoid breaking it, but I did take out all 4 brass screws that hold the back on, so it won't come off that way. I'm afraid to pull on the stem any harder since it's plastic.

    How Does It Come Off?

Greetings All! I debated over posting this question but frustration finally won out. Any ideas on how to release this set knob? It's an early 70s Seiko musical alarm clock that needs a connection re-soldered, but I've tried every trick I know without risking breaking it off. The knob is...

    2 Clocks - 2 Missing Leaders!

You know, I've entertained that idea. I "may" have found a prospect for the larger movement. Ronell Clock Company shows a PMH-050 that looks like it might work. This is my payback for promising to have that one back in time for Christmas before noticing the leader was gone. ;)

    2 Clocks - 2 Missing Leaders!

Greetings All! During the past few weeks I've taken in two German Grandfather clock movements ...both missing their pendulum leader. Would anyone have a suggestion (or picture) of the replacements I need? Thanks! -Randy

Thanks, Harold! I had a couple of similar ones in one of my books but nothing conclusive. I appreciate your help.

    German Movement ID

Greetings All! I'm trying to ID a customer's beloved little 'Granddaughter' clock and I can't seem to locate this particular trademark. Thanks! -Randy

    Pendulum Help

Thanks Skinnb1. I believe we've solved the mystery. The leaders aren't exactly the same, but after I corrected the bent end and tried it out with a small pendulum the movement has been running on the stand for two hours and keeping pretty close time. It should regulate just fine. Thanks! -Randy
