I have a small L&R, a little costly but worth it IMHO. I preheat but turn the heater off during the cleaning cycle. If it is warm enough it is good enough. Agree, that it does a fantastic job on lantern pinions. I aim for clean parts but not a showroom finish.
Yes, it slides off easily and it is not cracked. Staking sounds like a good idea. A couple of trundles did not come out easily and had to be drilled out but otherwise, it should go smoothly once I install the trundles.
I put the crow's foot in a vice, and with the escape wheel tucked into the V, tapped on the pivot end, and released the cap. Did not take much to move it, thanks, Willie. Looks like I will be using Loctite on this one once the trundles are in.
I must replace the trundles in this lantern pinion on the escape wheel of a 30 Jerome time and strike. The movement will not run otherwise. The trundles are in pretty bad shape as you can see. The problem is how to access them since the lantern pinion seems to have been installed backward. This...
