Clock Wanted: Column Pedestals for Ansonia slate clock

Can close this request. I was able to make “passable” repairs to the broken pedestals by turning a jig to keep the cracks closed, then soldering small strips of brass sheet across the cracks, then strengthening with a steel epoxy. Any exterior gaps were filled and the parts painted.

Clock Wanted: Column Pedestals for Ansonia slate clock

I am looking for a couple of pedestals (or full column sets) for an Ansonia slate clock. They look like either a brass or bronze casting. Two of the pedestals had several cracks. The pedestal is 1-1/2" diameter at the base, about 7/8" high, and fits a column with a 3/4" ID. The total column...

    Ansonia Slate Clock Column Removal?

I have an Ansonia Slate Clock "El Limon"(?) that has been sitting on the shelf for awhile. Brocot movement is running well. Case is complete but a mess. Ran out of other projects, so decided to tackle it. Stalled quickly. The columns need to be removed to get to serious grime behind them...

    Badische Uhrenfabrik Shelf Clock

Interesting information and links. And, I have new search terms (Mikrolisk. Abrahams, UK & Swiss, St. Criox, etc)! I have to admit I was very confused when the movement stopped after about 2 days, with mainsprings spent. After a couple days of head-scratching, the fog slowly cleared - 30hr...

    Badische Uhrenfabrik Shelf Clock

Didn't know much about the clock when I acquired it, but the case and movement looked mostly intact. The paper on the back was interesting. Quickly learned after a couple runs on the test stand that it is a 30hr movement. Case cleaned up pretty nice, but has had items replaced. Markings on...

    American Clock Case ID?

Clock is definitely a marriage. I pulled the movement and in the process of servicing it. I noticed there are two sets of holes on the backboard, so that also supports the idea the Ingraham may not be the original movement. The gong appears to be the original. At least there are no other...

    American Clock Case ID?

It is a painted (embossed?, inlaid?) maybe 1/4" thick panel. Here are pics of the labels and the panel. At the top of third panel close up you can see original dial mounting hole

    American Clock Case ID?

I am working on a friends clock who is going through a rough patch. It was passed down through her family and she has lots of stories about it. Once, her grandfather was living in Ohio and he rescued it from his house while a river was flooding the house. She asked if I could get it working...

    Woodworks pinion repair

Thanks RJ and RC for the great examples! RJ, I have used your Amazing Putty technique on a wheel tooth repair and it worked well. I did cut a dovetail to secure the patch, I just wasnt sure it would work on a long pinion tooth. Glad to hear otherwise. RC, I like the idea of removing the...

    Woodworks pinion repair

I am working on an Eli Terry movement. Time train running like a champ. Strike side is a different issue. It had a broken tooth on strike main wheel and second strike wheel had two pinion teeth previously repaired with epoxy (or similar). The broken tooth on main wheel was repaired from info...

    Unusual (?) Chelsea Movement

I just have a hardcopy, so glad you found it on the net. Pay close attention to the authorization table of who can do what. IIRC, only a Navy Certified Senior Clock Technician is authorized to disassemble the movement. :) Bill

    Unusual (?) Chelsea Movement

I serviced a Chelsea like this for my brother, Navy documents show my brothers to be a Model 17E. He inherited it from our grandfather who served as Medical Officer aboard the USS Shasta in WW2. My grandfather said he acquired it when the Shasta went to the salvage after the war. The Model...

    Mainspring repair?

Ha! Some good examples of "repairs", will have to keep a look out. I completely understand necessity being the mother of invention, but I'm glad I didn't find duct tape. Thanks for the Mainspring Chart reference. Will have to keep a link to that. Bill

    Mainspring repair?

I encountered this prior "repair" while disassembling a recently acquired Sessions movement. At some point the mainspring had broken and it was riveted and brazed back together. The second image shows the joint had begun to fail. This looks like a safety issue to me. Was this common practice...

    Colonial Manufacturing Co. Grandfather Clock

I am working on a movement that looks identical, but a few years later. My movement has the Peerless trademark which I have been told puts it around 1920. Bill

    Clock Sessions Mainspring Arbor Needed

Did a quick assessment of a Sessions Westminster Shelf clock at a yard sale and the usual - case touch-up, hands missing, etc. But decided the price was right for a project. Imagine my surprise when I started disassembly and the Strike side mainspring arbor was gone. So, anyone have a...

    Hans Felser Regulator

Tatyana, tarant, Great info. Very nice clock pictures, they are very similar. I really like the top pieces on them. In summary, I have an Adolph Stern regulator probably from Triesch with a Shlenker & Kienzle movement made in Komotau from the late 1890's. The "Hans Felser, Leoben" on the...
