After seeing the recent and wonderful photos of a BAYLOR and a LIP, I’m feeling a bit “...and here’s another obscure brand, murdered by the Quartz Crisis.” A once proud, post-WW2 start-up based in Spain / made in Switzerland, known a Radiant. To honor the first Formula One season to kickoff...

Tech Sheet and Oiling Guide for Felsa 4000N

I misplaced one of the smaller screws in a plastic container and thought I lost it...Got on the floor on my hands and knees searching for about 10 minutes. Funny how after 2 hours of hyper-focusing on movement parts, I found a piece of red pepper flake on the floor from Pizza Night -which in my...

Tech Sheet and Oiling Guide for Felsa 4000N

Took 4 hours, but I was able to disassemble the Alsta with the Felsa 700, without loosing anything. A major success. Took about 10 digital photos, and wrote down my actions and observations. Fortunately, one of the better YouTubers did a very, very similar Felsa restoration video, so I watched...

Tech Sheet and Oiling Guide for Felsa 4000N

Thanks Tony! I think the Felsa 702 will be helpful as the Pink Pages reference I sent, states that the 702 is in the 700 series...Looking at the sheet, I would say at first glance that the 702 is an automatic version, so I gather the underlying design is probably that of the 700. CousinsUK eh...

Tech Sheet and Oiling Guide for Felsa 4000N

Thanks for taking the time to reply so thoroughly Glen - I really appreciate it. I understand: Practice, the BHI guide, copious photography and more practice. I’m familiar with applying best practices and reading between the lines on OEM “requirements” in my day job, so I get where you’re coming...

Great little Swatch chronograph - I have one too. My Europe travel watch - when we were allowed to go to Europe. Original strap with the little dimples to make it look somewhat like a tire is called “Wildly” and back on the Swatch website.

    Felsa 690 - Always Learning!

Hi Seth, Just purchased an Alsta Extra-Thin with a Felsa 700 Bidynator. Is there a resource on-line for Technical Sheets / Oiling for Felsa and other less-well-known Swiss movements from the mid-20th century? Thanks, Mike

    DIY Nickel Plating!

Will do Rick. Fortunately, I have previous-life nuclear submarine reactor controls Electronics Technician experience to draw from, in the “cleanliness-is-next-to-God” department.

    DIY Nickel Plating!

Great posts Rick! When is comes to watches, I’m typically a stainless steel guy...I am starting out in the servicing / restoration arena with cheap Swiss movement watches from the 50’s and 60’s...One is nickel plated base metal, so as an experiment, I aim to remove the old nickel plating (which...

Info on Alsta Venus 180, moon face, please

Hello Robert, New to the servicing / restoration game, my first watch to begin work on is a cousin to your nicely complicated Alsta Moon Phase - an Alsta Extra-Thin with a manual wind Felsa 700. Indeed, it is a very small watch. I’ll post the after photo following restoration. All the...

Tech Sheet and Oiling Guide for Felsa 4000N

Hi Tony, I’m in a similar boat having just received my first 2 project watches, and I too am looking for technical sheets / parts lists / oiling guides. I am seeking the same for a Felsa 700 and a Venus 180. We both probably arrived at the same place: “Pink Pages for Timepieces” from a German...
