    Sessions movement repair

Okay, so I have been looking on Ebay, and I do see some Sessions movements, but none of them have the pendulum out front without anything on the back. Since this movement is mounted to the back of the inside of the Steeple clock, it can't have any gears, pendulums, chimes, etc on the back of...

    Schatz Ships Clock Bell issue

Mounts on the front for the case. It keeps chiming... just slow. Okay, I wont worry about it.

    Schatz Ships Clock Bell issue

Okay, so this clock has been chiming and all like it should for some time now... one thing I have noticed though is when the clock is out of the brass case, it chimes at a normal rate, but in the case, it is slowed down a bit. Seems like something might be retarding the movement I'm thinking...

I would love to but he retired and moved. He was the only clock repair guy in about 60 miles too.

Beat setting using Clock Tuner App

Thanks... is there a free app that will actually listen to determine the beat? Smart metronome is good for providing a metronome, but I don't see anything that will allow it to listen and try and pick up the tempo.

    Sessions movement repair

Understood Hudson, and it makes perfect sense. Do you happen to have an old sessions movement that you would care to sell for this that is similar? My concern is finding one that is similar and not *too* damaged.

    Plymouth Tambour Clock

I never thought of that. How would I verify this? Would the spring that is broken be pushing on something?

    Plymouth Tambour Clock

Sorry, I never did say what was done in the original post. I had it cleaned, oiled, serviced, and one broken spring replaced. It only has two trains. It has been running since Sunday until I noticed it yesterday, so I will see if it stops again. I actually don't mind it not chiming, as I...

Is there one for the iPhone?

    Plymouth Tambour Clock

Okay, so I fix the beat (I thought) but when I came into my office last night I noticed the clocked stopped. I thought maybe I forgot to wind it all the way up, so I started to wind it, but only got a few turns it and it was fully wound. The clock is running again, but what would make it stop...

Much appreciate the help. It might be a little bit before I dig into that. Busy work week this week and next, and I am still waiting on that one book someone recommended. Darn USPS...

    Sessions movement repair

Very cool... thank you, but I don;t think they will loan me one of their movements to stick in my clock or play with. :) This will be a great video though to review.

    Sessions movement repair

Okay, so looking at your picture, does this clock movement have a verge or an anchor or something else?

    Sessions movement repair

:) There is another saying that says a fool and his money are soon parted on Ebay... the fool would be me I'm afraid as I may not know what to look for, ask, etc on an old movement on Ebay.

    Sessions movement repair

Where do I look for a similar design? I would love to find an original movement, but how would I find that and how would i know it is the same design? Did Atkins only make one movement?

    Sessions movement repair

I understand what you are saying Hudson, but the way I see it now, the clock IS broken. Can it get broken worse? Sure, but as it stands right now it doesn't work. If I totally screw this up, I will own that and be okay with that. I still have the case and can do what you say. It would be...

    Sessions movement repair

So the wire is just there to keep the suspension spring from slipping down, not up? Gravity should take care of the up.

    Sessions movement repair

I'm not sure I follow you. You say they is no hole in it. I clearly see a hole at the bend. Where would the wire go to? Do you have a picture of what one of these should look like when properly done (or a link to one)?

    Sessions movement repair

Okay, more images... and there is a small hole (you can see it in one of the pictures) on the suspension spring (last picture).

    Sessions movement repair

is the anchor and pallet the same thing (the device that goes back and forth between the teeth of the gear on the escapement)?
