Guys, Thanks for your insights.
Since its not the mainspring, i'll take a closer look at where I'm losing power. I don't know how it ran before I serviced it. As far as the hairspring goes, i'll check if an extra coil is hooked.
Thanks Again!!

Hello,
I have a French carriage clock that is running too fast. I have performed a cleaning, burnished the pivots, etc., adjusted the
balance but to no avail still runs fast.
I have a couple of questions:
1. I think that the mainspring was possibly replaced by the previous owner. Can anyone...
Can somebody tell me what the proper name is for those circular clips that have like 3 fingers which hold cap jewels in place? They are typically used for the balance jewels.
I have lost one for a Seiko movement and need to figure out where i can buy one, but not sure what they are called...
Thanks Guys!
I have not done an alarm watch before, so i'm a little apprehensive to go further. I have done Bulova 23 jewel automatics before successfully.
I guess this will be another learning experience.
Doug - Why did you say things get much tougher? I mean, what in particular?
Hello, Does anyone have any links to what the best practices are for polishing watch hands? What chemicals and related cleaning materials to use for getting the best possible results?
Thanks and Best Regards,
Steve
Hi!
Can anyone tell me if a K&D #128 mainspring winder arbors fit the mainsprings found in swiss alarm clocks such as Looping, ImHof, etc.
Thanks!

I'm working on a Bunn Special movement. My intent was to detail the plates using a cotton rag charged with a small amount of simichrome. The plates are silver in
color - perhaps somebody knows the type of finish metal.
I already polished what I could and it looks excellent except for the areas...
Hello,
I would like to remove the jewels that are mounted on the plate(s) with the intent of bringing back the finish on the plates. I cannot
do a good job shining up the plates with the jewel assembly(s) in place.
I removed the two screws holding the jewel assembly in place. However it seems...
Does anyone know how to clean a cap jewel properly?
I think that some of the repair books say to just replace them however for current times this isn't practical.
Thanks,
Steve
Hello,
Does anyone know if dipping a balance into One Dip will affect the roller jewel on the balance?
My understanding is that the roller jewel is attached to the balance with shellac. Will the One Dip dissolve the shellac
and thus cause the roller jewel to become unattached to the balance...
