wow
Your comments made me watch the double snail cam more carefully and I think I migh have found the problem.
The follower that rides the cam is made of two parts pivoted on the left of the front clock plate, and a spring that returns them to the down position. The larger part has a flat...
roughbarked
Very occasionally it will lift it high enough to provide the hour chime, but usually I only get the half hour chime (even on the hour). By lifting with a screwdriver through the hole on clock plate I found that if it is lifted high enough then the flirt instead engages into the...
Think I might have found the issue...
If I actuate the mechanism that is activated by the double snail cam by lifting it by different amounts I can make the gathering palette and rack act as they should.
This suggest to me that the hour part of the double snail isn't moving it as far as it...
wow
I can trick it into working sometimes by holding the flirt open and letting the rack drop. If I do that, after the hour has chimed the snail cam follower sits high of the snail cam until the half hour chimes, then drops to resting on the snail cam for the next hour chime... rinse and...
Checking last night, the rack can pass the gathering palette pins when the flirt is out of the way.
Having watched a stack of youTube, there are version of these movements where the half hour strike does activate the flirt, gathering palette and rack - so I guess mine should be.
So I still...
wow
Watching you're video in slow motion (1/4 speed) I can see that when you're mechanism strikes the half hour there is no movement of the gather palette, the toothed section, the silver arm to the left of the gather palette or the arm that rides the snail cam for the hour chime.
Mine...
A month later and I'm finally able to get back to working on this!
wow from what you're saying it sound like it is only the position of the gather palette with the 3 pins that is important, not the gear behind on the same shaft that has a single pin?
Whilst I'm not delirious about the idea of...

Thanks for our reply.
I don't like the idea of trying to move the gathering pallet on the shaft!
Are you saying that the meshing of the gathering pallet on the rack is wrong, or the meshing of the gear behind on the same shaft that has the single pin is wrong?
Either way, how do...
I have a Korean 31 day movement that is chiming the half hour every half and full hour. Exactly as Clockinit in message 6 of this thread.
What I can't understand however is his comment of moving the gathering pallet on it's pivot. I can't see such a pivot, I've attached a couple of pictures...
