It seems like today most people see quality very different as it was seeing a while back. I marvel at the quality these pocket watches were made. Most people do not really care about quality anymore.
I understand that you do not like these forums. But I am really interested on what people thought about all these incredible brands of watches at their time? Were they wars between brands, like Ford and Chevy? Was publicity as aggressive as it is today. Were there people that only bought one...
No not at all. I have one Waltham. Why would I need justification. I buy what I like and that is it. I want to know what people thought about these brands when they were made. As I was not alive I have no idea what reputations of fame any of these brands had.I just want to get a feel what people...
Exactly, I just wanted to hear opinions to get an idea. What do you guys think about the beginning of the century. Was Waltham considered number one then. I have a 23J Vanguard model 1892 that it is amazing. So ornate and still works excellent and it is very accurate. I can not imagine this...
I know it is a general question, but I want to know what was considered best at their time. Just like BMW or Mercedes they are considered great now.
I am talking price, quality, brand recognition, reliability, and people's perceptions at the time.
I guesss what I mean is the owning a Waltham...
When the hands are at the beginning of the hour the hour hand is a little fast. Is it ok to give it a tiny nudge carefully to align it? I do not have any tools.
Thanks in advance.
What year might it be?
I am not looking to sell, but could you pm me or email me at: [email protected] the actual value of it. I am just curious it is a family heirloom so it is not for sale.
Thanks
What type of watches use them? And they do not seem to be popular, why? I barely see any. Let me know your opinions on these cases. I just got a silver one and would like to have some info.
Thanks in advance
I have this beautiful Universal Geneve. Can you give me as much info as possible? When was it made? Quality of the movement, watch, etc.... The movement is Swiss made 17 Jewels. And the only number I see is 56 (serial number?).
Thanks in advance.
Re: Could you recommend a watchmaker that could fix a pocket watch case in San Franci
When is the next meeting? I am trying to get this fix this week.
Thanks
I have a swing ring style pocket watch case that rattles. Do you know of a good watchmaker that could take care of it locally? I live in Berkeley, California. Maybe somebody in San Francisco or in the Bay Area?
Thanks in advance.
This is my initial question here, describing the problem...
