European Private Label Watches for the American Market

For Bartens & Rice, New York. I posted a thread about these several years ago, but still wondering who was responsible for making them. It's quite a nice, presumably Swiss, but maybe French manufacture? I've seen many examples signed Bartens & Rice with no clue as to the actual maker. But, one...

European Private Label Watches for the American Market

Garon Brothers Jewelers in Duluth, Minnesota started importing fine Swiss watches in 1921. Brother Julius used the first 3 letters of his first and last name combined to come up with the worst watch name in history. "Julgar". I believe this one is quite a nice Minerva 7/23(?).

Request for Rockford Serial Numbers from 1-255,000 ( now expanded to 500,001)

Oh! Well then, I'd like to retract my former panic attack, but if you are open to up to #500,000 then I have like 70-80 to add, so I'll have to get to work. I'll try and at least get a list of numbers together asap. The "Our Own" labeled ones that I have, that I posted previously- #274246...

    E. Howard 10 size 21 jewel question

I have seen a number of these Keystone Howard 10 size, series 14, marked "21J" and with an arrow with a star in it, . . . but a "V" underneath it, and I only count 19 jewels. Is this a known thing, are they marked incorrectly, or are there jewels somewhere I'm not expecting? I'm sorry that I...

    Rockford damasking patterns

I don't know about that damasking pattern, but I do get the distinct impression that ones with the plain nickel finish, like your example here, are among the most scarce. Even more so than the two-tone ones. The only ones I have like that are signed for a Private label as "Our Own"".

    Rockford damasking patterns

Two have this leaf pattern which seems unusual to me. But, I've really no idea.

    Rockford damasking patterns

Both I suppose. I have a large collection of horribly fubar scrapped model 7's and 8's. A few are private labels. Most of them are plain gilt finish, but I have 15-20 in nice two-tone damasked finish. There's maybe 4 or 5 different patterns represented and I just wondered which might be the...

    Rockford damasking patterns

Does anyone have any compiled information about which Rockford 18 size model 7 and 8 damask patterns are more rare than others? there seems to be quite a variety.

Anyone have info on Jno W Kimpel?

I also have one marked "F.J. Kempel. Oregon, Ills." on the movement. A Rockford. Wondering if anyone knows if this is associated with the same family or chain of Jewelry stores?

    Mystery trade mark

Indeed. Our/my thought is it probably does signify something. Either karat content or perhaps plate thickness/age wear. Like gold-filled 5 year guarantee or 25 year guarantee. Or just the trademark for a particular company. ?

    Mystery trade mark

Thanks! No. As far as I know it has no other markings at all. Definitely not under the lid or bezel. I do have a shot of that. And, your list is also all I can find for Ladd trademarks. So, I think we can conclude that it is not a Ladd case. I have permission to share the photos, but it's...
