Thanks for the information, I reached out to Mr. Taube and based on the markings on the case he indicated I needed a vintage movement for this Desk clock and that it was from 1917. Can you tell me what years Chelsea made the 4L movement and if it was used for various size dials. I will reach...
Hello
At the last chapter meeting I purchased a 1917 Red Brass Chelsea Desk Clock case and dial that has been disassembled and no movement. The rate adjustment is below the 12. So the great hunt begins. So if anyone who can provide answers to the following would greatly appreciated. While...
Last month I purchased a running ST Helmsman (german movement) minus a key at the local meeting. I thought no problem, get a key. So I purchased a #3 key but the outside diameter of the key is too big for the hole in the dial. So before I do anything I thought I would ask: "Is this the right...
Hi
Seems to me I learned that Seth Thomas made the #2 regulator up until the 1950's yet when I look at clock auctions on the internet I seldom see anything newer than 1930's. I have only been to the local chapter meeting so perhaps I am missing them by not attending the "big ones". What I am...

My daughter is studying in France for a semester. I will be visiting her in March and I thought I would also look for a clock or two to bring back.
Having never purchased a clock overseas, what if any thing should I be aware of with customs and packing etc. Surely somebody has done this...
Hi
Thanks for the responses to date. If I was to pick this one up, can the broken bezel be repaired or replacements readily available as it appears that friction hold the movement in the case?
Gary
Hi:
I passed on a mantel Hamilton-Sangamo electric clock at the local Goodwill tonight. It was in all there but wouldn't run when plugged in and the brass bezel that holds the movement in place was cracked. So the movement fell out of the case when I picked it up. I could do an ebay and get a...

Hi
I have never seen one of these in real life. So, how are these put together. Is a wooden case used to support the movement and front? How is the front attached to the frame? How is the movement accessed for service? Hmmm I am pondering making one but need more details. Anyone have a...

Hi All:
Recounted the beats and this time it was 80. I tried counting the teeth on the escape wheel with the clock running but my eyes went in and out of focus(I'll blame that on the Bifocals.
Thanks for the response
Happy clock hunting

Hi everyone:
I will try and count the teeth tonight. Like I tried to say I was thrilled to get it to run, (earlier with the hands on I could get 45 minutes or so minutes of run time).
Thanks Gary
Hi
If an escape wheel has 40 teeth on it, will a properly running clock beat 80 times a minute. I haven't counted the number of teeth on the escape wheel yet but I have a movement that is a Seth Thomas Reproduction (from the 70's
I think). I've set the movement up and it is running but...

I have purchased an older reproduction movement for a Seth Thomas #2. The movement has the following name American Clock made in USA stamped on the front. Anyone ever heard of this company and how old this movement may be? The iron bracket holes do not exactly line up with existing holes but...
