Yes. Would like to figure out how to set the punch stamp correctly to sync with correct/time date. I’m assuming once you set it & keep it wound it keeps correct time/date/day for the punch?
Winding this thing is next to impossible. I’m 6’ 200lbs & pretty strong & agile & had to use pliers with...
Got this at an auction for a measly $60. Seems to be serviced, working, & complete best I can tell. Don’t know anything about these clocks but it’s extremely heavy & difficult to wind.
If anyone has a clue where to find an original instruction manual online it would much appreciated
Estate sale find. They had a few nice clocks. Got a very good price I think; $100 less of what they were asking; which is about 1/4 of what similar sells for on eBay.
Came with the wrong key - which I believe was to another Ansonia they had for sale (nice carriage clock). Original pendulum. No...
New to me Junghans mystery swinger clock. Bought this “untested” & there of course is an issue
For some reason someone loosened the screws that hold the movement plates together. My guess is this was done because for some reason they wanted to take the movement out but couldn’t figure out...
Won this at auction. I probably overpaid but haven’t seen much like it. Anyone run across anything like this? Obviously French. No damage, wound it up w/ a #6 key & it took off.
I’d love to know the age.
Thank you. I have some Ansonia catalogue reprints - I’ll have to take a look. I haven’t pulled the movt out yet, maybe it says Ansonia on the front. It’s pretty clean & runs well, so it’s not being messed with until it gives me a problem.
For some reason everything I get now has a hairspring. Ugh.
Obtained this clock today, seems to just need a cleaning & maybe some bushings, it runs ok as is.
it’s brass, likely American, double spring for time only; no strike. Lever/marine type escapement. Movement is in a can, but a different can from Westclox novelty style. Numbers seem like painted...
Thank you. There are some numbers on the bottom of the case. I’ll have to get a pic of those. I’ll get a new spring in it & see what else needs to be done. I have to make a back cover somehow. I’d love to know how it was originally connected - there is just a hole where the movement is - no...
Picked this up. It’s missing the back cover & seems to have a broken spring. Don’t know anything about it, other than the movement is French, the body is British, & it seems to have a platform escapement. Haven’t done anything with it yet but polish the silver.
This clock is a survivor. Appears to be all original & everything is in very nice shape. Very surprised, it was a birthday gift from my girlfriend who of course says I already have too many clocks .
The clock is metal / iron with some some of finish meant to look like wood. Haven’t done...
So, this is my first time using #1. I bought it & the bushings just for this. And yes I sort of did have that issue. I took it as because these bushings to me are extremely small.
Maybe everyone already does this, but I started using only tweezers to work with these little things - no hands...
Finished with Big Ben 1a. This clock got a new dial, new steady/repeat/silent/alarm words, new main spring, & new bushings @ T3 & T4. Case & all pivots polished.
After initial assembly, the balance wheel only had about 100° of rotation. Took it apart again & nothing was binding...
I’m sure some of you loathe these, but I think they are good for building clock repair skills - so here goes.
Big Ben 1a
Already rebuilt this one & movement is running well; but needed to order some small bushings & a 1 KWM reamer for time wheel #4. Cut new glass & printed new dial as well...
Probably Waterbury then. I just thought it looked exactly like a Lux movt I have. Same area, so I’m guessing there was some cross pollination as mentioned above.
I did get all the epoxy off the balance wheel. I soaked it in Brake Kleen, which is a mixture of solvents & picked at it with...
So, I got curious. The clock I was calling “Jennings Bros” apparently has a movement by Waterbury, which looks a whole lot like a Lux 30 hr movement. Lux was located in Waterbury, so I’m going to go out on a limb & say these were made by Lux.
Apparently, someone was in here before me. There...
