Hi All!
I need some help identifying Elgin's early waterproof crystal. The dimensions are 21.6mm long by 18.0mm wide. It's a CMX style crystal with a double curve but have wide flanges. The closest I could find is CMX324-13C. Please see attached picture.
Thanks in advance!
Every single head that I have (4 in total) has some degree of pitting on it. Take a look next time at the bottom of the US head, it probably has small lines like a termite would make in wood. If you're keen on trying, then fill a jar with water and shine a flash light through it during...
I think the US head carries contaminants is an interesting idea but I think the problem is that the ultrasonics head is being pitted/disintegrating from the ultrasonic waves. The head should be stainless steel not aluminum to help minimize this but alas its not. I was running some tests with...
I appreciate the kind words! I've spent all spring and summer working on these off and on. I'll finish up the third here this week. I have a small fortune tied up in these as a lot was trial and error. I have tons of extra L&R machine parts now. Not sure what I'll end up doing with the other 2...
The O-Ring Store: 6226-05 U-cup Seal Buna-N 70 (6226-05)
This cup seal is the correct size however, you may need additional 3/4 OD x 7/16 ID shim washer .005" thick to ensure the inside c-clip has enough down force on the seal to it pushes up against the 3/8" rod.
Haans - When rebuilding I would also replace the bearings that on the timing cam. With the schematics provided above, its all too easy to convert a vari-matic to a vari-matic 3.
I appreciate the delay for the spin off but, according to L&R in the manual says that this time is nonadjustable and is optimal in its duration. I would concur that a delay would save on the juice but I need to see where this is inserted in the wiring diagram. I have obtained a few more machines...
Thanks for the support!
Does your unit have the ultrasonic cleaning as well?
With the schematic above you can convert the varimatic to the varimatic 3 by just getting 3x 25W 500 Ohm pots. It would be a little bit of work but if you desired speed control on the individual cycles it can be...
To be honest, I haven't really 'used' it much yet BUT I will say that it did have a fan in the case from the factory but the earlier ones did not. Also on the earlier ones that didn't have a fan or the capacitor in parallel, the 20W 6k resistor was pretty baked, so a fan I believe is required to...
Thanks! It was a ton of work and a lot of ill fated attempts to get it work as sometimes my 'fixes' created other problems. I was very fortunate that someone posted a PDF manual of this machine online with their 'notes'. This machine is stout as it should be as it is built in the ol' US of A...
Hi All! Long time lurker and first time poster.
Just finished restoring my L&R Varimatic 3. This one was in pretty bad shape. I did a complete overhaul including new: wiring, seals, bearings, and finish. I love how the powder coat turned out and I hope it lasts a long time. The final touches I...
