Upon inspecting this nice old watch-I noticed that the roller jewel was broken off flush. After marking the jewel position on the balance and removing the roller table, I cleaned up the jewel hole, found a matching jewel from my scrap box, inserted into hole and melted a flake of shellac across...
I arrived at the canon pinion solution just as I read your post and laughed out loud! Thank you! This is why I love this forum-you guys always have the answers! I decided to see where the setting was hanging up and removed part by part to diagnose it. The 3 setting wheels in the photo below...
Hi all,
I am struggling with an issue on a LeCoultre 910 and need some help! This watch watched ok before cleaning and oiling. When re-assembling-I noticed that the time side clutch wheel and smallest setting wheel that engages with the clutch wheel had broken teeth. I installed a new clutch...
Problem solved! It's front loading. I was able to coax bezel off and it pushed right out through the front. Thanks for listening to my rant :). If I do get it running-will post pics!
Thanks! I already tried that - but they are different movements/configurations and the nice one has no retaining ring like the damaged one. Hoping someone might have removed one like this damaged one before.
Hi all,
A friend asked me if I could get this running.... I told him that it looks like it was buried in someones yard for a few years before being found again. The back cover is missing and it's full of soil and rust. I had to soak the stem set screws for 2 days with penetrating...
OK! I have not seen this one before- have you? I was using case opener to lift bezel on this front loading watch and found bezel/crystal was siliconed to case front! No snap-in lip or screw in threads present. I can’t see putting movement back in and re-sealing it all again. Will check parts...
Thanks for everyone's continued help! So-I took off auto winder again to look at crown wheel. It is seated nicely and hub looks orig and correct. I removed and re-seated anyway. Crown and ratchet wheels are engaged and lie flat. I can see from this view that teeth of winding pinion are simply...
Today's theory: First off-thanks for all the suggestions-I'm determined to get this watch to wind! So I pulled the cover and played around with the spring as suggested. Spring pushes clutch wheel over and winding pinion is getting fully engaged and turns with stem --just doesn't engage...
Hi-23J Bulova automatic with 10BPAC movement. Thinking that I'm missing something obvious....Watch sets with crown/stem but doesn't wind. I changed out existing stem to another correct Bulova one and it still doesn't wind via stem only sets. Keyless works seem to work fine-just not engaging...
Hi all,
Haven't been able to find a winding pinion to replace this one that has worn teeth and is slipping. PW is an unmarked 40mm pin set in a nice silver case. Low jewels, but nice and clean. Would love to finish it off and put in done bin. Pinion is 6mm wide and 2mm thick. Went through my...
Hi--received 10 of these tiny gear wheels with a parts lot that was mostly marked Bulova 214. They are smooth edged-no teeth and are all in metal vials marked with a green dot at top. Figure I will eBay them to fund my other purchases/repairs. Does anyone know what part they are and if in fact...
Thank you for these replies! I don't think I have the tools/know-how to make these--but may give it a try! I will also check out the old ebay listing for possible spares---thank you so much for taking the time to check into this!!
Any thoughts on where to find spare pushers for this Sheffield Telemetre watch case? I know it's just a pin lever 1 jewel--but would like to finish it off if possible... Thanks!!
Hi all,
Looking for a spare Illinois 6/0 size hairspring or complete balance. Stud is the type held in by 2 screws. Project watch looks good except hairspring is broken in 2 pieces. Anyone happen to have one? And--what are your suggestions for gently cleaning this dial? Looks bright in...
AHH! Found a nice blog where the process was described clearly! This was in fact my first 2 piece stem. By turning the movement upside down over my hand and pulling out the stem and rotating slowly-it reached the point where the two pieces disengaged and the movement dropped neatly into my...
