I have three wooden cased time and strike gallery clocks each of which needs a dial. Paper dials will do.
Does anyone know of a source for such a dial?
Good thought. The problem is that the winding and setting is done by way of the bezel, so it can't mount like others I've seen. The bezel cannot be tight against the panel or the bezel wouldn't be able to be turned to wind and set. I'm thinking about adding some brackets on the back of the...
I have this round clock that is intended to be mounted in an instrument panel....somehow.
And that's the kicker; I can't figure out how the mounting is supposed to happen. The bezel is the winding and setting mechanism, so in the "in" position, it winds, and in the "out" position, it sets. The...
Thanks for all the great tips. I went with the synthetic gut used for tennis and badminton rackets. It seems fairly stiff but once I get it in I'll know better. Got this on Amazon for $7.89US for 40 feet. Don't know when I'll get to this, but now I've got no excuses.
I have a nice 3-weight Vienna Regulator (or whatever it's called) and noticed one of the weights laying on the bottom of the case...the catgut had broken. I removed all three weights pending a resolution.
I presume the choices are to replace the catgut in kind, or upgrade to the twisted steel...
ClipClock, you are THE MAN! I rotated the quarter strike snail (thanks Shimmystep) about 180 degrees, and reassembled and now am VERY happy to say that the strike is doing what it should be doing. Whew. Very thankful that I can return this clock to the wall where it should be hanging. Regards, Dan
I'm trying to help an elderly woman whose husband worked on this clock movement.
It runs fine, but the strike is a bit off.
It strikes thus (quarter strike/hour):
4/10
1/10
2/11
3/11
4/11
1/11
2/12
etc.
I'd MUCH rather not disassemble this movement, but hopefully, someone can help me put...
Thanks very much for tipping me off to David....I sent this part to him, received it back yesterday and the clock is running just as it should. Very pleased with David personally....good communicator...and did just what he said, when he said. I'd recommend him to anyone contemplating work over...
David LaBounty, if you're watching this thread, please send me a PM so we can discuss how to get this to you. Or, if someone knows his email address, please provide. Regards, Dan
OK, sure, there are fires burning all around us, but clock repair must go on! I have in a Grand Soneree Vienna Regulator style clock for repair. The lady said it hadn't run in a very long time and I can certainly see why. Whoever had it last did this lady no favors.
I'll spare you the details...
