Thanks Clockwise. I thought it looked like a good movement but I'm not all that experienced with bracket clocks. Also I was very surprised to see a pictorial dial. I'm guessing this clock was made somewhere between 1880 and 1930. Would you (or anyone else) agree? Can anyone narrow it down...
Hi People,
Our local internet Buy and Sell site has had a run of interesting clocks. I've just bought an old box clock that should be be German with a nice birds eye (if that's the right term) glass in the otherwise wooden door.
Now I've got the seller's permission to ask you about this...
Right then! I've seen pictures of the back plate. No Medaille d'or marks, no GB anchors. It says it's a W277 and there are a few beat and pendulum length numbers. I'll happily accept Chinmeclockfans' point that it's not a bad clock but there are a few older bracket clocks on the web here that...
Hi,
I can't get an pictures of the movement yet but the clok's supposed to be a Becker. I've spent quite a lot of time looking at Becker logos but can't find this one. If it is genuine, what date range please?
Many thanks
Glyn
Isn't the movement in the original post a Thomas Haller the same as the one I've just bought? Well, almost the same, except for the balance wheel. See my post
Please ID this Clock German? Wannabe Medieval case?
The courier delivered it yesterday and now the clock is sitting in my lounge ticking almost silently. When I buy a 400 day clock I think of the patina as dull brass that needs a good polish. This clock has a patina I can love. Beautiful wood and veneer very nicely aged. Ideally I think the...
Igoanatol, both clocks are lovely. I see that the W & H is very similar yo the Thos haler that I'm buying but your Haller is Identical except for the movement door in the back. I'd love to know how many clocks Haller made each year so we could estimate the age of mine. John Hubby might even...
Thanks Tatyana - again!
As far as I can see with the different ageing ,ht W & H dial is identical to the Thos Haller. The cases are obviously based on the same design concept.
I've hit "buy now" so now I'm waiting for payment instructions and then the clock.
еще раз спасибо ("thanks again" -...
Tatyana, the phrase "interesting and rare" simultaneously delights and worries me. I'm delighted because it is interesting and rare but I worry because it means I'm going to spend more than I want on yet another clock!
Thanks everyone! Tatyana, are you now saying you now have doubts as to whether or not this really is a T. Haller? The serial number, as you noted, is on the back and there's no logo on the back plate. Of course there's no picture of the front plate and I can't imagine there will be unless I...
The owner thinks this is German, about 1900. He gets that from an old note stuck inside the case. I've trawled the net as far as my patience will let me but found no case like this, nor any bracket movement with an external countwheel.
I like it but I want to know what it is and whether it's...
Hi Guys, On 23 November 2012 Shimmystep posted a picture of a spring regulator he'd restored. I have the same model case. Does anyone know when these cases were made? I've not taken the movement out for several months and I'm a bit reluctant to take it out again now! I have a crown for it...
Forget it!. I posted this last night at midnight & failed to notice that the auction closed at 8.56 this morning. It's gone!. I should have been in bed instead of browsing Trade Me.
Hi all,
Our local internet buy/sell site has an advertisement for a "Mid century" Kienzle Long case clock movement, weights, chime rods etc. Everything except the case, pendulum rod and the key. It's advertised as weight driven and the pictures of the movement show something quite similar to...
