    E. Howard #89 date

Was wondering if anyone could provide a date on this clock? It was not stamped on the case like other photos I have seen. The assembly number was 3 and a few 6's. I searched every place and did not find a date code. Belongs to my local museum and has provenance with UPRR.

    Astro Regulator

I have always loved the Astro regulators, I however will probably never be able to afford one. I decided to construct my own. From conception to ticking clock I have about 30 hours into it. I still have to build the case, but all the hard work is done. I also liked the look of the linear...

Chelsea weight driven banjo running fast

Thanks for the quick replies, The pendulum rod length is already to max, I like the idea of the fish scale to determine the weight. I will use that and see if it works.

    Miniature Tower Clock Movement

Here is the final product, still tweaking a little here and there, the chapter ring dial face will probably get replaced with laser etched glass. I am planning a moon phase complication for it now.

Chelsea weight driven banjo running fast

I recently bought a Chelsea banjo, it was missing the weight and pendulum, I found a pendulum that was pretty close to spec, and cast a new weight, built a new rating assembly. My information on the size of the weight was based off a person selling one on eBay. I ended up being about 8# 6oz...

    Miniature Tower Clock Movement

After my glue set up for a bit, I used the hermle plate as a template to drill my holes. The top three were super tiny so I drilled them using my Dremel by hand. Test fitting my gears I layed out my holes for my plate supports and drilled.

    Miniature Tower Clock Movement

I took a few pictures of the build. From conception to ticking clock it took about three hours. I did have to borrow a buddies slack belt sander to clean up the plates after I cut them out with the bandsaw. this is my initial layout on the hermle plate.....I am a bad artist.... i went to...

    Miniature Tower Clock Movement

This is something I have been playing with for a couple of weeks. It started out life as a nuked Hermle 451. I used the time train and created my own plates. I am in the process now of building a case to look like a clock tower. I had to raise the movement a little over 2 1/2" to center in my...

    Ithaca and Carter calendar clocks

Got her making time... Cleaned movement, a ton of elbow grease on the case. I really think keeping the dial face original is a good choice.

    Ithaca and Carter calendar clocks

I am with you Peter. It is complete except for suspension spring and pendulum bob. Still has the original movment. The case is in good shape except for some crazing in the finish. I have already torn down the movement and parts are in the sonic cleaner. Does look like I might bush a couple...

    Ithaca and Carter calendar clocks

Lewis and Carter... Yes it needs the suspension spring and the bob. Who would you recommend to refinish the dial face or does someone make a paper dial face for these?

    Birge and Mallory

Thank you Steven! Yes it does have pegs on the bottom, probably for the feet, and there was also a outline and nail holes for the top pediment. No I don't have Roberts book...putting on my Christmas list as we squeak..... i have seen some reproduction tablets, for these. But with the case in...

    Birge and Mallory

I bought this about a month ago, it had been hosed down with some serious oil that petrified. I threw every thing I knew at it, sonic cleaner just laughed. Finally soaked all parts in lacquer thinner and had to clean each individual gear and lantern. Been keeping great time. The case is a...

Help On English Tallcase clock movement and dial face.

Thanks Jonathan and Peter! That help narrow it down a bit. The clock is really a stunning piece. I bought it in Rawlins WY....so it's got some mileage on it. I almost have the crutch arm built and am waiting on suspension spring. Should have a heartbeat by next week sometime.

    Seth Thomas pre 1866 repurpose.....

I don't know how bad I will get chastised for doing this. I love these movements and buy everyone I find. I currently own two complete ogees, and will post pictures of them later. The movement is really pretty and is a real shame to cover it with a dial face. the case is a 1885 Edison...
