    How would you correct this?

    Might glue it with crazy glue. If this positions it where you need it, then you can rivet it. if not you can drop it in some acetone which will release the glue. Re-position it and try it again. once you get where you need it, rivet it, or pin it, whichever term you prefer.

    You can Shellac it. Then knock down the glossy sheen with 0000 steel wool followed by paste wax. I use Minwax. Avoid Briwax as is destroys fresh finishes. This will give you a soft sheen, Not a high gloss sheen. You can try it on any scrap of lumber. Stained or unstained and see how you like...

    Thanks, I have them in my shopping cart. Now I just need to wait till Monday for shipping, then wait for UPS or the Post Office. I'd much rather drop in a new drive gear than repair the cracked plastic gear. If it was a failed brass gear I'd be more confident that the repair would last.

    Small taper pin training!

    If they're steel pins you can stick a small button magnet on the side of your tweezers. High quality German made Hemostats, Tweezers, & other instruments are available, but you'll pay far more than the India, Pakistan, China ones.
