• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

1918 pilots watch movement identification help please

Hi This a 1914 RFC pilots watch that I'm restoring. The watch is signed Stauffer and I believe that is who made but I think it was supplied to another maker and that's really what I'm trying to establish. I'll tell you where I've got to....... initially I thought it was an AS movement, but the...

    Waltham neg set

Hi This is new territory for me, my watch has a Dennison case and the sleeve appeared to be screwed in like on Borgel cases. The example you show in your photographs appears to be a push fit? My stem looks similar but Ill take the sleeve out and have look. I'll see if I can source some sleeves...

    Waltham neg set

Hi I'm trying to fix this Waltham, it has negative set winding. I can see that the clutch sets in the hand winding position until the crown and stem are pushed in to wind the main spring and that I think is the correct way of operation? The issue I have is that once the watch has been wound and...

Hi I'm trying to restore this early centre second wrist watch. Its got a 13'" Font movement. Full hunter 1916 wrist watch

OK I don't think you misread anything and I wasn't trying to dispute the evidence. I was posing the question if it was made by Orion and they signed other movements why not this one, did they make their own movements and sign them or were they buying ebauche movemnts and signing them? If that...

    Full hunter 1916 wrist watch

My movement is not signed which to be honest leeds me to the conclusion that my movement is identical to the one signed but the question is who made the movement and my watch.

    Full hunter 1916 wrist watch

I'm confused, nothing unusual about that, I thought I had replied to your post. I'm researching another watch at the moment and I'm using the "Great War forum" and I thought this post came from there :banghead: Thanks for this I can move forward on both watches now brilliant Pete

I can see your observations also the ratchet is in a similar position. An earlier post refers to a photograph in a book and in that photo the balance cock doesn't have the same engraving. The more I stir the water the muddier it gets.

Borgel black dial 1916/7 movement id help please.

Graham I see a lot of GS import marks for this period, maybe he had a facility to assemble watches which to me would make sense but I don't know? Pete
