• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

    Do No Harm

How do I approach this case. It has colored/dyed mosaic veneer that I have not encountered. There is a poor finish that had been applied over the original. How can I address this without damaging the colored veneer?

Cleaning an original reverse painted tablet

I have a nice Gingerbread that I am biding on and I am wondering if anyone has had success in cleaning a reverse panted tablet like this one. I have never had success in cleaning one without damaging it. Is there a way to do this without damage? I’m not looking to aggressively clean it. Just...

I'm actually now living in northern Virginia now (Winchester area). While I realize soliciting business is not allowed on the forum I would like to request if anyone has a known referral to a reputable shop in my area, I would appreciate a PM if that is ok. Thanks!

    Movement ID for replacement

I have a "no-name" 8-day, Grand father clock that requires the movement replaced. The only markings on the movement are 34, which I presume is the pendulum length. Where might I start looking for replacement movements? outside of eBay, are there any Seth, Ingram, etc model numbers I would...

I have a classic Seth Adamantine case with incised gold lines. The lines have lost all the gold. I have cleaned and polished the case - now to replace the gold incised decoration. I have read much about using gold Rub n Buff. I have purchased a tube and want to attempt refilling the lines...

    Hermle pendulum length?

Have Howard miller schoolhouse clock with a Hermele movement. Their tech department told me the specs were 43cm for the pendulum drop. Where is that measurement applied? From the release at the top of the movement or from the bottom of the suspension rod where the pendulum hooks on? I have...

    Jefferson Mystery clock running slow

As far as something dragging - the minute hand is screwed through the glass (through the mounting) with the hour hand and geared counter weight on the back. I can't tell if there is something wrong with the motor, driving the glass??

Help identifying/dating a Junghans wall clock

I discovered this table from a previous post. It has similar nomenclature to markings on my movement. Can anyone decipher the meanings behind the numbers. The are no headings to determine what the numbers represent. I see 24-75/77. My movement has 27-66/70. Guessing these numbers won't date...

Help identifying/dating a Junghans wall clock

Attached more photos. Movement is filthy. After cleaning the logo a bit, it appears to be the 1898-1905 logo. Still find it odd the other data (27 66/70) is stenciled rather than stamped. Any insight would be helpful. sorry - all photos came out sideways :bang:

I'll get some complete pics of the case. Hopefully that will assist in identifying. I did notice there is a label on the back that says "No. 1901".
