    Yes I’m sure you are right but that’s ok you win some loose some must say someone made a good job of the back of the dial .I wasn’t sure when purchased in the corners the engraving was very thin and lots of lines with bits missing before seeing your pictures .Regards Phil

    Wow Thanks Jevan it’s a heavy dial so perhaps it is that date but I’ve never seen a fully silvered dial from the 17 cent.I also thought the dial feet were unusual and early .

    I have a Lantern clock by J Watts of Stamford which was supposedly bought from a sale there in the 90s .Would like to think it went to America with early settlers from Boston Lincs which is about 40 miles from Stamford.

    Silvered the dial waxed the case just need a glass now and it’s ticking away happily.It’s interesting that the movement is held in by brackets at the front and back of the seatboard and the 4 dial feet go into the movement and the dial screwed into the case via four brass fixings.A bit larger...

    I like the odd brass clock dial .Couldn’t resist this one .Never seen it’s like before.Very primitive with spandrels top right and bottom left the wrong way round .can’t wait to get it to check it out.Nice addition to my collection.

    Like the engraving ?The Name Half moon ,stars , skull and crossbones , Grand Reaper , Hour glass and sun something to do with life span .Nice thing seen that name for numerals on Dial Clocks and watches but not on longcases .Rare!!
