    I got mine from a collector out of Illinois that was/is downsizing his collection. I have found it difficult to obtain purchase/service/allocation information on the US Maritime Commission Model 21s (other then what little Whitney has written).

    My latest addition will satisfy both the European and UK requirements. It is a Zenith initially used as a British HS3 Deck Watch and then reclassified/redesignated and redialed for use in a shipyards 'Work Study' program.

    Wearing my Poljot, signal model w/ alarm. Acquired it a few years ago mainly because it was so clean. To my delight it keeps excellent time and the alarm works great.

    My 1941 Hamilton Essex with the coral gold case. One of my favorites but for some reason it does not make it in the rotation much. I think it is the band, not very comfortable (I know, change the band to something better).

    Thanks for the info. It appears that tab does attempt to give the balance wheel a nudge in the Start cycle but not enough to get it started. I guess that could mean the tab is out of alignment, or the tab is bent, or the small teeth on the rim of the balance wheel are worn down, or some other...

    Thanks for the response Randy. After about 50 Start, Stop, Reset sequences, it will only run in the Start sequence, and it requires a physical nudge to get started. Feeling a little foolish, after about the 45th run I did notice (under a loop) a small arm/tab that does contact the balance wheel...

    Just acquired a Waltham mil time with a jetterbug movement/balance. The watch runs great, keeps time, stops and resets to zero correctly.     CL Thiery case

    I saw this thread and found it of interest. I know very little about case makers but I have a C L Thiery that has always intrigued me because of all the stamps and hallmarks. It houses a Newark (Edward Biven) movement. Any information would be great.

    Can you derive any specific info about the history of a Hamilton Model 21 Chronometer if it does not have the balance brake mod? Meaning maybe it was not part of the normal military service cycle for chronometers (not used on a ship or on a military facility). When purchasing one does it matter...
