    On the top of the hood,is there a rectangular opening,or one that is covered by a board? Many of those clocks had pagoda tops that were too tall for modern ceilings and removed.

    It looks right to me.The bone bushings in the movement were a Hoadley feature.The dial and label look to be in good original condition as is the stenciling.

    Tom Moberg would do a nice job of reproducing your original lower glass.you will be much happier if the reverse painting is done on a piece of old glass with ripples vs new plate glass.It is interesting that the gold seen on your tassel and pillar bases was stenciled with bronze powder.Earlier...

    What is the size of the lower glass?Marshall and Adams and then later,E.W. Adams are often found with curtains reverse painted on the lower glass.

    I would like to know how to reproduce alligatoring" of shellac.Nice work on those "old finishes" Jim!I like the idea of having the original surface that has survived in the various environments that the piece was exposed to and was touched by all of the owners over time.
