New Haven Adjustment Arbor and Gear

It is being serviced for someone else, and it has been make right. I would never think to do otherwise, even on my own clock! :) The solution was finding a ruined New Haven movement on eBay which arrived yesterday. I was able to cut the old wheel off as suggested by Jay and Dick, although I...

Thanks to Jay, Dick, and Jerry. I will take a shot at this tomorrow, and will let you all know how it goes!

    Hammond vs Telechron Coils

Well, I wimped out on this and bought a parts clock for a good coil. Clock arrived, put the new-old coil in, and life is good. At some point though I plan to try this experiment!

New Haven Adjustment Arbor and Gear

Enclosed (I hope) is a photo of the adjustment wheel on a New Haven clock movement from about 1910. As you can see, I didn't get the focus perfect, but probably good enough to get the idea across. Looking closely, ALL of the gears on this adjustor have been completely bent. Someone must have...

PALLET JEWELS FOR AMERICAN ELECTRIC CLOCK CO VERGE.

Well...maybe. It depends on the jewel size you are looking for, and if this is a visible pallet. I am not familiar with the clock. However, Timesavers has round visible pallet jewels for sale in a variety of sizes. Check the catalog. Good luck!

    Hammond vs Telechron Coils

I am working on the first Hammond clock I have ever worked on...and wouldn't you know, the coil is bad. I can go on line and buy a scrap Hammond clock, but I already have a number of Telechron coils that are good. I have a 60 and a 65 coil. Now, looking at them, they look about the same size...

French Black Marble Clock Movement Identification

Interesting...I guess I will have to investigate further at some point! Thank you for everyone who contributed. I will post a photo of the clock in a few weeks when I get it done! The pendulum length is shown as 5 pouce 3 lignes. Does that help with ID at all...or no? Thanks again to all!

French Black Marble Clock Movement Identification

I bought a French Black Marble clock with a garniture set back in 2011...who knew this would come in handy during COVID??? Anyway, I'm working on the case, and have just removed the dial and movement. I am completely stumped by the makers mark on the back plate. I tried "European Makers" but...

Forestville OG - To Stain or Not to Stain

Tom, That's an idea I hadn't considered...I must have been tired when I finished sanding! I'm going to think about that seriously. Anyone else have input? And thanks again Tom!

Forestville OG - To Stain or Not to Stain

That is the question! The original finish on the clock (shellac) was one of two clocks I've had over 15 years of working that was SO BAD the finish had to be removed. The clock had spent 70+ years in a PA attic collecting...well, stuff...and with the summer temperatures, moisture, etc the...

Solved Seth Thomas No 2 Pendulum Swing

Uhralt, JC, Willie X, Bruce Linde, John, Shutterbug, and all who contributed to this string, You have solved the problem! First I checked the suspension spring as suggested by John. To my surprise it measured .003 inches, so it was not too thick...plus there seemed to be plenty of swing when...

Solved Seth Thomas No 2 Pendulum Swing

Uhralt, I've been thinking about trying that to see what happens. I think I will wait for the new suspension spring, and then try the adjustment you suggest. It should be easy enough as long as I am careful. It will be a few days before the suspension spring makes it from Arizona to...

Solved Seth Thomas No 2 Pendulum Swing

Bruce, I will never be a movie maker that's for sure...but here I go again. This is longer and I tried to cover more ground with the clock overall as well. Let me know if you see anything reportable. I did notice that the anchor is contacting the escape wheel right where the ruts are. No...

Solved Seth Thomas No 2 Pendulum Swing

John, My mistake...I should have read SUSPENSION spring, but I did not figure out what you were trying to tell me at first. I get it now...and I just ordered the new suspension spring from Timesavers. So, we will see when it arrives. This is something I will watch for. Thanks again, and...

Solved Seth Thomas No 2 Pendulum Swing

John, Thanks for responding, but my Seth Thomas No 2 is a regulator, so it is a weight driven clock. I appreciate you trying to help though!! WB
