Please help, could this be my first pure American grandfather clock?

Not quite sure, did you buy this yet?

Please help, could this be my first pure American grandfather clock?

Before anyone jumps on me, that's not a heat vent, just a fresh air intake for the furnace.

The current prices are so sad. Last year we "rescued" a late 1770s brass dial , Selkirk Scotland. Perfect shape but on its way to Goodwill for $400. Didn't even haggle the price since it was for charity. Didn't have room for another big clock but it felt like a puppy to be saved.

Really like the proportions. Has the case been stripped?

Requesting assistance with identifying Scottish Longcase (white dial) - 19th or early 20th century

And we never get tired of good pix. More of the dial & case details. I have 2 Scottish brass dials, one from Dumbarton & the other from Selkirk. Earlier than your white dial, circa 1775 -1780. Sue

Requesting assistance with identifying Scottish Longcase (white dial) - 19th or early 20th century

You will get more info/feedback if you change the title of your post. The words Hall Clock will cause some to scroll by. Try Scottish Longcase instead. Might add white dial to your search.

Show us your Half hour markers on brass dials

About when did half hour markers stop? Would the time frame be different in Scotland? Just curious, both my brass dials are apparently too late ( 1775-80)

    Backwards - Scottish long case

You might want to add "Scottish longcase" to the title of your post. There are several members with at least one Scottish clock who might click on your post with more info. And please share more photos. Sue
