    "VALLON" 18S Question

05.27.2021: Sorry - there wasn't anything on the backside of the dial so I didn't think to post a picture of it. But you're correct, I should have. Please see the attached. After all the research I've done to date, including that from "Prichard," I'm relatively certain that A.C. Becken Co...

    WITTNAUER ELECTRONIC TRANSISTORIZED

Just came into a Wittnauer electronic/transistorized wrist watch: ESA Dynatron movement cal. 9154 - produced from 1968 to 1970. After 1970 the caliber was 9157 - 9158. My guess is about 1969 for mine. No battery, but after research I'm using an Energizer 344 Low Drain Silver Oxide (replaces...

    "VALLON" 18S Question

Please see my earlier posts. I completely disassembled this Vallon pocket watch down to its last nut and bolt and posted pictures. There is no other information engraved anywhere on that watch movement that I haven't already identified and posted pictures of. Thanks for posting. John

    A.C. Becken

Hi, I'm John Hudson (Sierra Vista, Arizona). I've been researching Prichard for information concerning the VALLON Watch Co. - Vol 1 states; "The 1896 A.C. Becken Co., Chicago, catalog showed movements made to fit American cases, marked “The Vallon Watch,” 18s, stem-wind cylinders." Can you...

Timex Mickey Mouse Electric Movement Watch

I've taken in a Timex Mickey Mouse electric movement watch. It comes with ALL the original paperwork and the box set. I opened it up, cleaned the inner case/movement, recoated the water resistant gasket with silicon and ordered a new leather band for it. Okay - now I want to zoom in more of...

    How Old is this Watch

UPDATE: Just FYI - I made the leap to purchase ONE of the TWO complete sets available: "Swiss Timepiece Makers, 1175-1975, First Edition, Kathleen H. Pritchard (ouch - four figures!). I'll be able, hopefully, to shed more light on this when they arrive end of next week. Stay tuned. John

    How Old is this Watch

Today is April 20, 2021. In a search for "FACT," I disregarded the money I paid for this watch (Estate Sale) and decided to completely disassemble it instead. I wanted to ascertain its providence 100% and hopefully NOT based on guess work. Popping off the crystal ring was necessary to have the...

    LOOKING FOR A REFERENCE BOOK

Does anyone out there have a copy of Kathleen H. Prichard's, “Swiss TimePiece Makers: 1775-1975” that they would part with? Please let me know. I've gone to a dozen book sources and even have a search engine looking but no joy. John

    How Old is this Watch

Thank you, John. I already have that reference, but went back to make sure I didn't miss anything. Under "V," I can't find "Vallon" anywhere???

    How Old is this Watch

UPDATE 04.13.2021 - I'm attaching two more pictures - the "K" and "SWISS" I found on the bottom plate of the Vallon movement. Otherwise, I have completely "bombed out" on trying to ID this one. While there is a "Vallon, Switzerland," there is no record in any written or online reference to a...

    How Old is this Watch

All of the separate "Vallons" I found had different dials - only one had a dial with circular dots like mine but they were a gold color. The others had standard dials for the period. I am mystified by the fact the serial number is the same for all the Vallons I've found (?????)
