    RSM strike problem

Thanks Bruce. I feel stupid now! I didn’t realize the snail was on about 10 o’ clock and felt like the strike was just continually running. You’re correct that the little pin did eventually stop the gathering pallet. I had it set up correctly after all, I was just looking at it a little wrong!

    RSM strike problem

Hello. I’ve worked on plenty of rack and snail movements but this one is a bit different and is stumping me. I can get the warning to operate but there is seemingly nothing to stop the strike so it keeps running. Is something missing that should be stopping the gathering pallet? Or am I...

    Blick time clock

Thanks for the tips! I can rotate the key about 180 degrees on both directions. I’ll try to get a look through the crack. Lucky for me the hands are already loose so if push comes to shove I’ll remove the back board and movement carefully and let the hands fall and get to the door from the inside.

    Blick time clock

Hi Bruce. I can turn this key enough to start feeling some resistance with the latch but can’t seem to release the door. Perhaps the key isn’t quite long enough?

    Blick time clock

I picked this up today and am quite intrigued by it. The seller is looking for the key currently, but can anyone give me any information on it? My research suggests it’s no older than 1927 as it says Blick rather than National. I can’t get the door open. I don’t have the correct key but I can...

Does anyone recognize these two wall clocks?

I recently picked these up at a local auction for next to nothing. I don't believe they're very old. Maybe '70s or '80s. I haven't opened them up yet. Does anyone recognize either of these before I can get them opened up and get a look at the movements? I'm wondering if the New England one was...

    Todays' discoveries

Be mindful of the radium lume on the middle watch. I generally tend to avoid watches and alarm clocks that have radium lume. Nice find for sure though!

There’s 2 antique malls and 4 antique stores in my immediate area, and I often go on weekends to scour them for clocks, folding/box cameras, and candlestick phones. I hardly ever find cameras and phones, but there’s usually a clock or two at each store, but in my area the antique dealers seem to...

Thank you! I’ll visit again today and look at the movement and gong. My apologies to salsa for hijacking his thread. If I have further questions I’ll upload some more photos and start a new thread :)

Thanks Walt, I sent him a message and will eagerly await his response!

It does appear to be in good condition, aside from some wear on the dial. It has a beautiful sound as well. Admittedly I’m not the biggest fan of the tambour style, although it is quite nice. I also don’t have a Herschede in my collection and would like to have one. Perhaps I’ll take Bruce’s...

    Auction find

Thanks guys, I’ve researched a little and will continue to read about it. Is there any kind of known dating system based on the serial number?

    Auction find

So here it is. It’s an RSM movement with a number 11 stamped on both plates and 4181 stamped in the middle bottom of the back plate. Can anyone provide any info?

I believe it’s from the ‘20s. I’d make an offer on it, but he’s not likely to accept an offer of $90 when he has it priced as high as it is.

There’s a clock very similar to this in a local antique shop, but it’s a striking clock rather than a chiming one, priced at $275. I eyeball it almost every weekend, but I’m not willing to spend quite that much on it, although it looks like the price isn’t exactly out of line. It really boils...
