I am a retired research physicist. I don't know why but I find myself fascinated with clock mechanisms, I become mesmerized when watching escapements in action (same for strike and chime mechanisms).

For my first repair/refurbishment efforts I'm working on a few 400-day clocks someone gave me, an old cuckoo clock and table clock I purchased, and four pocket watches from my wife's family. Family members recently gave me some wristwatches to work on.

I purchased a $4 NY Standard 7j 12s on eBay to practice on, it seems to be working now (this is a minor miracle!).
