Maybe. I’ll keep the Riverside around and see if the Maximus fancy dial/hands grow on me more. I do like keeping the watch as original and period correct as I can.

Actually the Maximus movement (20165512) is earlier than the Riverside/case (20189803). Maybe this dial is found on earlier movements too.

My new addition looks a bit like 2 additions. I just added the above left Maximus A which is about to takeover the case of the bottom right Riverside A in a beautiful 14k Waltham case. Love the Colonial A size — great heft and feel in a compact size. The dial on this Maximus has a very...

    18k?? hallmark

Spotted this old Waltham from the overseas market. Case says “18k” and is beautiful; but not sure if it’s real or not. Anybody have any knowledge of this hallmark? No other hallmarks. Is that staining from being acid tested?

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, a recent death in the family has led to lots of digging in old boxes. I found an Eagle Scout award/medal, a Navy officer’s sword, and something I was really looking for — my grandfather’s pocket watch from Packard. My grandfather lived to the age of 96 after...

    Hamilton 917 stem question

Thanks. I figured that was the case. I’m not sure how long it’s been sitting in a drawer — I’ll take it to my local watchmaker for a C.O.A.

    Waltham Colonial A

Thanks Jerry. I found an amazing 14s "American Watch Co" black enamel dial -- not sure what model the dial came from as it's just the dial. Was hoping it could fit on an orphaned Maximus.

    Waltham Colonial A

Colonial A question: Will a "regular" 14s dial (dial feet positions are at approximately 19, 38.5, and 58.5 minutes) fit a 14s Colonial A movement?

NEEDED: an education on the Waltham model 1888

With the bezel removed is there a space between the enamel and the case like the Riverside below? Do the 88 dials meet flush with the case on other grade movements?

NEEDED: an education on the Waltham model 1888

All that text and exactly the same (odd the type spacing was changed between the 2 descriptions to make it look different)... except the $5 premium.

NEEDED: an education on the Waltham model 1888

As a long-time watch fan, old and reemerging fan of vintage pocket watches (particularly Waltham high-grade), I need some help figuring out a particular reference: the Waltham model 1888. Here's where my education needs some help. I've seen TONS of model 1888 spanning many grades in all sorts...

I’m not sure why Clint’s mailbox isn’t overflowing with new surprises — but, I looked again and found this really great 0s Waltham dial in my mailbox. My mail carrier thinks I paid a little too much for it... but, I couldn’t resist that unique black enamel dial. Now I need to find a nice...

How about posting your glass back salesman/display cases with movement.

Love this thread. Keep the great pics/cases coming.
