1810 Whiting Dial and movement, Shaker Case?

My great grandfather was a shaker cabinet maker. His cabinet shop is at the shaker museum at New Lebanon. As such, I have had a lot of exposure and interest in shaker work. I can with certainty that this is not shaker. As stated, construction and wood are not what you would see with there work...

    tall clock ID help

Thanks for the input. That really confirms my suspicions. Pendulum length, escape wheel, and bob are all what you say. Which Seth Thomas models would have used this movement? Any ideas what this case would have had for a movement originally? Just wondering if I should split them up. Maybe save...

Hello all. Just got this off craigslist today and need some help figuring out what I have here. Bought it more out of curiosity than anything. It needs some serious work as you can see. Pinwheel regulator questions

Thanks for the info so far. Just found some pictures and description of a Kroeber #25 that has the exact same movement. Desciption says its Swiss rather than French. Is one any more desirable than the other? Forgot to mention, the crutch takes to 90 degree turns and passes through the front...

    Pinwheel regulator questions

The pin through the leader is peaned on both sides much like a rivet. A little overkill by previous repairer? Though I'm sure you would not want it working its self out. Pendulum is a full 12lbs. Gridiron with small lyre. Another mystery to me me is winding arbor has 180 degree twist in it. Hard...

    Pinwheel regulator questions

Hello there. I just got this jewellers regulator and I have started to service it but having some questions. Always impressed with the knowledge and helpfulness of you people. I've checked out all the older threads and got some great information, but still some problems. First, movement...
