it isnt upside down, I zoomed the photo on to explain what I mean about the pendulum.
below is the entire movement from the same video. I’ll be getting a better picture on Friday so I can show y’all in higher quality as I am staying with my mom and uncle right now.
(I borrowed this image from a youtube video as I am not with my clocks right now, currently out with family)
So basically the top of the pendulum rod (marked with blue arrow) was hanging onto the brass support piece (Labelled with the red arrow), thus making the pendulum look longer...
Typically, these types of clocks only strike 12 times at max. 24 hour time shouldnt make a difference.
If its countwheel striking, it could have a small possibility it could be set up to be 24 hours, but I have NEVER seen something like that, so its very unlikely.
same with rack and snail...
So I recently got this Seth Thomas Clock as a repair job for a friend. Something tells me this isnt the original pendulum, but I wanted to make sure.
If it is the correct pendulum, When I let it run for an hour, it loses at least 20-21 minutes.
Any Help is Appreciated!! Thanks!!
Alright, thank you for clearing it up. I was hearing it being considered a bit more uncommon due to it not really being seen outside being sold or one other YouTube video with the model 4996. I can see where this comes from.
Well, I don’t know if this is true, but this is supposedly a rare clock. This clock is branded as a howard miller (barwick being a branch of howard miller). I’ve already had some issues that have required me to take the movement out. The chime silence switch had a loose screw causing it to not...
looked on timesavers, and I should have probably mentioned this in the original post.
The chime rod set is B122/15. At least that is what it looks like. Should be a 9 rod set for an urgos triple chime movement (Westminster, Whittington, and Winchester)...
So I recently acquired a Howard Miller/Barwick Model 4996. It needs a new set of chime rods because 1-2 are completely out of tune, and it is highly noticeable set on westminster and winchester chimes. Anyone know of anywhere good (other than eBay) to get these chime rods?
Thank you in...
