Retired electronics engineer. Long experience of many developments in the industry through valves, transistors & ICs. Analogue & digital experience includes radio, TV, computer hardware & software, airborne & seagoing navigation equipment, & industrial automation.
Horology has formed a background hobby since childhood along with an interest in music via, in particular, the guitar and associated electronics including recording.
I am turning full circle now with a preference for mechanical engineering, from which so much stems, over electronics which has become less & less repairable and hands-on.
I am very aware of the differences between theory & practice in all pursuits, but I retain a preference for obtaining a result and my respect for those who do this time & again is absolute. However I am not averse to pure discussion and conjecture to thicken the plot and I don't mind the odd joke as long as they're mine!
