The NAWCC Message Board provides three different message services that can be used to communicate with other members on the message board.
[top]Visitor MessageThe visitor message is not really private in any sense of the word, it is just directed to a specific individual. You can leave Visitor Messages in the recipients personal page. This facility is exactly equivalent to writing on someone's wall in FaceBook. Anyone who visits the Personal Page of the person you left the message can read it.
You can get to the individual's Personal Page by clicking on their name in the header area of any post they have made, and selecting the option View Public Profile from the drop down list. [top]Private MessageIf you do not want others to see the message for the person you are contacting, you can use the PM or Private Message facility. The Private Message goes into the person's Message Board Inbox where it can be retrieved and read by the individual only. A notice that there are messages in the persons inbox is displayed for that user in the upper right corner of the screen where statistics on private messages are displayed. It will say some number of new notices in bold type.
The user can click on the notices message to go directly to their Private Message Inbox. To generate the Private Message, click on the persons name in any post and select Send a private message to ... from the drop down list.[1] [top]eMail MessageIf the person has checked the box to allow others to send emails, there will be an entry in the drop down list, you get by clicking on their name, Send email to ... Selecting this item will take you to a form where you can compose a message that will be sent to the email address the person used when registering here on the message board. You will not see the person's email address. eMail address are not disclosed by the message board. However, the person will see your email address in the from field of the message they receive. These features provide the ability to receive emails without disclosing one's email address. Many people decline to receive emails and it is likely that they do not know their email is still protected if they check the box to allow emails to be sent to them. The sender of an email does not have his or her address protected. Only the receiver gets this protection.
