From: nconnelly@nawcc.org (Connelly, Nancy)

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT
FOR OCTOBER 2001
Nancy D. Connelly, Ph.D.

1. The Chiller Noise Issue: G.R. Sponaugle & Sons, Inc. has
installed the sound attenuation devices. Orpheus Acoustics has measured the
new sound levels and, while we are waiting their final report, it appears
that the new equipment has made a significant change in noise levels.

2. Museum Staff: The museum's Director of Special
Projects, Marie Killian, is no longer on the staff. A Director of Marketing
will replace this position. The Director of Marketing will promote the
museum, the school and the association. Advertisement in the York,
Lancaster and Harrisburg papers has yielded over 50 applicants. The Curator
of Collections position is on hold.

3. Museum Assessment Program: The American Association of
Museums has will assign an outside reviewer to come for a site visit
sometime this winter.

4. Fund Raising: Solicitations will begin sometime after
the first of the year. Individual prospects continue to be identified and
ranked. Local prospects are being contacted on a limited scale.

5. Membership Renewal Solicitation: Calls continue to be
made to lapsed members asking them to renew their NAWCC membership. A
renewal rate of 10% is remaining constant.

6. A Resignation and Special Thanks: After 36 years of
service, Lamar Swisher has submitted his resignation as an independent
contractor for janitorial services. We deeply appreciate his long
association with us. He is a walking history of our association. We will
miss his friendly chats and hope he will visit us often.
