Hi guys and gals,
I know that I could post this in the elec clock section, but many of you may not be aware that these devises were installed with independent regulators. I think they are dead gorgeous. Not many have survived , so the market is thin but that doesn't detract from their historical significance. There are a lot of pix, waybills and catalogs, so keep scrolling down at http://williamkapp.tripod.com/id44.htm Happy hunting, |

Bill--Thanks for posting this information. I now know that I have a No. 18 Regulator case. I've attached some pictures. It came empty, and I have put a ST reproduction movement in it, with a new dial on an old dial pan. I do not know what the original movement was. The original mounting holes form a rectangle 3" by 8", and no Seth Thomas movement seems to have a bracket with that configuration. My case had a weight-driven movement, as evidenced by marks from falling weights at the case bottom. There are no holes where the time detector would have been, but there are wireways on the outside of the case back, so this must have been one of the time system regulator clocks without the time detector function. The brochure you posted indicates that such a system was available in the No. 31 Regulator--perhaps at some point it was also available in the No. 18 Regulator.
My pictures don't show the clock to full advantage, as I can't back up far enough to get a good shot of this huge case. I agree with you that they are gorgeous.

Jeremy,
The Eco Magneto co used Seth Thomas almost exclusively, but I have seen Newmans and others using Waterbury's , Ansonia's etc. If you noticed, at least one Am Watchman used a self winding movement. Love your case. happy hunting, |
