Hello IWC-lovers,
just for everybody, I´ve set a personal list of these rare caliber types here online: http://faszination-uhrwerk.argby.com...ke/iwc-nr.html If someone wants to edit or correct this list, be welcome and thanks for helping! Please enclose pictures and description of the engravings in your Mail. Sending you my best regards Tony

Excellent! Do I take it then that you are interested in serial numbers and details for all IWC Jones Caliber movements?

Nachtmotte,
Once again, please accept my sincere thanks for your recent help in dating of my Nardin’s movement. In my collection I have also an incomplete IWC (New York), 19 ½ ‘’’, pocket watch movement, SN 8,592, with a chronograph attachment marked ‘Patented – Canada: July 16, 1877 – Great Britain: July 28, 1877’. I was not able to investigate these patents yet. Any comments/information on this movement and its attachment would be greatly appreciated. Jerzy Ganczarczyk |

I don't think this is a correction, but the 576 watch is marked Elson's Patent and New York as well as D. H. Craig. This is the web page and here is a picture of the movement.
![]() I have an E also but it is not in good condition. I will try to post its information a bit later. Edited to make image a clickable thumbnail. [edit=19=1171741968][/edit]

Hello Fred,
yes, I´m always interested in collecting serial numbers including their pictures of the early IWC movements. Also descriptions of the work (all engravings) and the dimensions. If someone own a complete watch (case and movement together), please tell me also the case number. The more information we may collect, the better dating would be possible. Hello Jerzy, it was a pleasure for me to help you. My opinion is: do good things in life everyday, keep smiling and laughin, cause the good doings comes back to you. May it´s possible to show here some pictures of your watches with these patents? Maybe you might be helped again... Hello Tom, wow, what a huge movement! Please excuse that I forgot the "Elson´s patent" in my listing. Thank you for keeping my eyes wide open with this nice picture.... Last sunday, I thought it was time to set my list of the early IWC movement online. Some historic facts should be done and not kept under a table, so I just wanted to keep something rolling. Hope, these 3 years of watching IWC movements and collecting their serials was a little footstep forward. Sending you my best regards Tony [edit=3356=1171305892][/edit]

I dug up my other Jones caliber. It is serial number 5847 with marking identical to 5858, which is in your list. It has had an extraneous case screw added and quite a bit of glue on the dial side where some moron had once glued a dial to it.
There is no dial or case, however the plates are nice and the jewels are beautiful.

Hello Tom,
sounds interesting. May you take a picture of both sides, please. Would be nice in that quality like your Nr.576 Qual.H. Best regards Tony

It took me a little longer to do this than I anticipated, but I now have a page up on the Grade E Jones Caliber movement.
Here is a picture of the top plate.

Night Moth, if your research uncovers any information on the multiple case screw locations on the Jones Caliber, I would appreciate hearing about it.
After looking very closely at all 4 screw positions, they seem authentic to me but they still are strange. (by the way, after sitting up half the night playing with these on many occasions, your name seems very appropriate.
