Default Information on Bucherer watch.

John,

Your watch probably dates from the 1970's but could be late '60's to early '80's. The plaque 20 means that the gold plating is 20 microns thick. A micron is .001 millimeters.

John,

Any Bucherer "Officially Certified Chronometer" is a very good quality watch. Bucherer's other watches were ususally comparable to other well known Swiss watches in terms of quality.

Bucherer had some business arrangements with Rolex, maybe someone else will jump in with some details...

Bucherer (which is supposed to be pronounced boo-shay-er) is a well known jewelery firm in Switzerland. I've heard them described as the "Tiffany's of Switzerland."

Like Tiffany & Co. in New York, and Serpico Y Laino in Venezuela, over the years, Bucherer had watches made by Rolex with their name printed on the dial, as well as the Rolex name. I have one myself
that says "Bucherer's Rolex" on the dial.

By no means were all Bucherer watches produced by Rolex; indeed, probably well less than 1% were. As Larry says, most Bucherer watches were above average quality, but I wouldn't characterize all of their products as really "high-grade."

Bucherer is a fine watch. It is now going by the name B swiss to keep it from getting confused with its HIGH Quality "Carl F. Bucherer" watch brand.

Dear Kevin...I have a very unique oranged-faced Bucherer diver's watch circa early 1970's. Is there any reference source you recommend where I could get further information about this watch? A .jpeg picture is available for viewing.
Thanks and regards,
Robert
