There are several designs of wrist-watch links. If you see a little pin from the side, it is pressed out with a special tool which will then allow links to be removed, and the band resized.
Another style has tiny screws which are removed from the sides. A third style uses a special tool that looks somewhat like a pair of pliers which loosten that type of link from the underside. As you can see, it can turn out to be a bit complicated without the proper tool, and what's even more important, the expertise to use it properly. I would say this is another area where the adage..."don't try this at home"... applies. The damage caused by trying to do this without the proper tool often cannot even be repaired, or can cause your watch to suddenly come off and be heavily damaged. This is an area for a retail jeweler to handle, and the cost is often so minimal and the resulting comfort so great you'll be glad you took it to someone familiar with how to do it right the first time. You can also see why many of us prefer an easily adjustable leather band! Too bad you couldn't hand it through the computer screen, I could have adjusted it while we were talking about it! But seriously, choose a jewelry store near your home or workplace, get to know them by taking in this, and such things as battery replacement, you be amazed how often they will take care of such adjustments as a courtesy to you. |
