Ahh, what the heck! The prose is excellent, worthy of the best used car salesmen and the numerous sharp photos are a welcome change.

He probably has a couple of hundred bucks of hourly labor for the auction entry alone. The poor guy has to make a little profit!

All that fuss for a run-of-the-mill Elgin with rust on the movement, and a 12-size Elgin at that! Personally, I'd say that talking about the "huge investment potential" of this watch crosses the line from puffery to outright deception, but hey -- that's just me...

Well, I have to give it to him. At least its accurate on the description. The photos and presentation are all very nice. Hey, looks good to me. It may not be my style but a bunch of somebodys like it and one somebody will end up with a nice watch. I dont have 1600.00$ to throw at a 12s but I dont think that is not a "fly by your seat" bid. You have to think and really want it to place a bid. Let it sell, it is really a nice watch. My 2 cents, Aaron

3 goose eggs bidding now. Have to admit, that is somewhat unusual, particularily, with an item bid up to what this one is. Perhaps a good watch to start a collection with?? lol
The watch does look nice to me though.. but not my cup of tea even at 1/10 the price.

If you look at the other items this seller has on at this time, you have to admit that his marketing techniques are superb!! Very good pictures, glowing descriptions ect. Very nice indeed. I just spent over half an hour looking at the pretty pictures!!

It is a very pretty case and nice dial. I thought at the beginning of buying the case for one of my 23J Elgine 12 size.

At this point, I think this is a practical joke. It looks like someone with 3 registrations bidding up the value to make a point. The practical joke is not without consequences since eBay will collect the final value fee on whatever value they choose to bid it up to. On the other hand I have known people to spend $100 or so to pull off a funny practical joke.

Haven't you heard? It's the gold! Gold is going to 1000.00 per ounce. All those 0 feedback guys aren't watch collectors, they're gold speculators. Get in now before the inevitable price increase. 1600.00? A mere pittance when compared to the number of crowns a dentist can sell from this one case. The movement? I hear that lucite cubes are the next big thing.

abereiter,
You say

You can't see all the scratches in the 4th picture?

The guy claims there are NO SCRATCHES at ALL on the case!

The Auction says
Quote:
Overall, this case has been fantastically well preserved. There is not one spec of wear
to be found anywhere on this case! There are no dents, no scratches, not even the
expected light scuffs from sliding around in a jewelery box. It looks just like it did when
it left the jewelers store.
[HR][HR]
Unbelievable
