Since it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness, I, with my huge and vastly superior intellect, shall now, fearlessly reveal the answer. It is ONE or THE OTHER of these, depending on which contains the largest number of granules. My money is on the first, since it uses actual sand. A possible contender, THIS ONE, is not even close, because (a) it only contains a puny 180,000 moving parts (not counting the car), and (b) it was not really a time-measurer, because (c) it could never be rotated.
