Default Looking for Information on a Benrus Watch

My sister-in-law has asked me to sell an old Benrus watch for her, but I really don't know a whole lot about it, nor does she. She gave me a little information, about how the gem in the dial is a sapphire, but not too much more.

If you can give me any sort of information, such as when this might have been made and if possible, an idea of value of such a watch? (Don't know if you can tell that on here.)

Here are the pictures she sent to me:

    Hi!

What you have here is a Swiss made ladies' art-deco era (1920s or 1930s) wrist watch in a US-made gold filled case (gold supported by a metal "filling"), the movement being made specifically for export to the US. Benrus was founded by 3 Romanian brothers in 1921 in Manhattan, and they had facilities in the early years in Waterbury, Connecticut, and also in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, where they made the movements (or had them made). They registered the Benrus trade name in 1923.

A clear photo of the movement itself would help you to learn more specific details about it.

Ladies watches' in general are not that collectible (or valuable), and most usually end up being worth not much more than the gold content (which is this case is very little), but a precise valuation cannot be given here per the rules of the forum. You can get one here, though, for a nominal subscription fee.

You can read more about the Benrus company here.

    Cheers!

Below is a picture of the movement is below. I had a feeling that you wouldn't be able to give a value. She had gotten one from someone, she didn't say whom. I was just curious if the value was accurate, of course. I will take a look at the website though.

    Hi and Welcome
    As Squite said.
I can add we have historical info on Benrus, we have very little info on dating Benrus watches.
I can also add its not worth very much.
Can you take a picture of inside back case so I can read all the data

    Sorry

There should be a picture in the first post that has the information, though I know it's not the clearest picture. Looks like she tried to take a lot of different angles and none came out all that clear.

    Believe all it says is:
    Made in USA
    Benrus
    14K Gold Supported by Metal
    701345

Or is there another spot on the watch that has more information? I am in touch with her now. I guess the value she got was from a local watch repairman (which was a pretty high number compared to the way things sound), but figured you guys might be able to help me out. (I'm more of a sports card collector myself...so I know how it is to have new guys like me asking so many questions.)

Thanks for any help you guys can give, though.

So not worth much at all. Sorry

Most relevant info about the movement happens to be engraved right on it in this case...15 jewels, 4 adjustments. I'd keep it in the family, to be honest, as it wouldn't bring much at all. I have a similar watch below, in full working condition, that I paid a mere $24 for at auction a few years ago:

    Hi All,
I read your posts here and though perhaps you might be of help in identifying this Benrus which I inherited from my grandmother who lived in NYC. The Benrus movement inside is a CZ252, if that helps.
    Many thanks,
