Default Ingraham Mantle Clock - Movement # 27

    Hello NAWCC,
I have been asked by my mother-in-law to put her Ingraham 1833 Mantle Clock into good running order; to that end I am trying to determine the size of the bob that I need to replace, both size & weight, as I cannot do much else until I can see if it will run but the old bob was broken. I realize I could check the size & weigt of the old bob but I'm not sure at this point if that was even the correct bob for the #27 movement.
    Thanks for your assistance!

    Gary,
If you can please post a picture. That would be very helpful.

To go further with Jay's suggestion, we need to see the case and the pendulum, to know.

Most of the mantel clocks by Ingraham use a 2.2 oz. bob. Timesavers has them. As mentioned though, we could verify with a pic or two.

    Unless it's a kitchen clock.

Where did you find the number 27?

Yes, exactly. If the "27" is on the front plate, to the right of the handshaft, that would be the year the movement was made (the month would be to the left). That date would suggest possibly a tambour, a late black mantle, or possibly a late cabinet clock. In these cases, shutterbug's suggestion of a 2.2 oz. pendulum bob would probably be what is needed.

I also suspect it was before number 28?

    That's a good one, H/C

My chuckle for the day. It's what happens when the fingers are faster than the brain.
