I tried with all the power of Google to find lyrics to the song a while back, without success.
I realize this is way off the subject of this forum but I came across mention of a song by the name of "Lord Elgin" which was recorded by the British folk group "Steeleye Span" in their "Bloody Men" album. Supposedly the song appears to be a love ballad but is supposed to refer to watches. I tried looking for the lryics but couldn't find them. Does anyone know of the song and lyrics?
Regards,
Bruce

No lyrics to be had on the internet, but iTunes Store sells the album, and you can listen to a 1 1/2 min. sample of the song. This is what I heard-definitely about a watch:
Every day of your life, you'll touch me
Every day of your life, you'll watch me
But I'll be with you each and every morning
To the end of the day
Take a [look at all] my diamonds and gold
I will show you the way hour by hour
Just give me somebody's hand I can hold
I will follow the day hour by hour
Every second of every minute of every hour of every day
Lord Elgin will save the day (English pronunciation, hard 'G')
Never spoken one word, to you
Never heard a word back, from you
Gave you all my time without a reason
Another hour for a changing season
Take a look at my face, believe me
At the end of the day, you'll leave me
But I'll be with you each and every morning
Till the end of the day
Sounds like a nice song, and I like Maddy Prior & Steeleye Span; now I've got to check out the rest of the album.
